Basil Seed Milkshake Recipe
Basil seed milkshake is a refreshing and healthy drink that is perfect for a hot summer day. Basil seeds, also known as sabja seeds, are tiny black seeds that come from the sweet basil plant. They are a good source of fiber, protein, and healthy fats. When soaked in liquid, they swell up and become gelatinous, adding a unique texture to drinks and desserts.
Simple Basil Seed Milkshake
Ingredients:
1 tsp sabja/tukhmaria seeds (basil seeds)
1 cup water, for soaking
250ml chilled milk
2-3 tbsp sweetener of your choice (sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc.)
A few ice cubes (optional)
Pinch of ground cardamom (optional)
Instructions:
Soak the basil seeds in the water for at least 15 minutes, or until they become translucent and expand.
In a blender, combine the chilled milk, soaked basil seeds (with the soakingwater), sweetener, and cardamom (if using).
Blend until smooth and frothy.
Add ice cubes if you prefer a colder drink.
Pour into a chilled glass and enjoy!
Tips:
You can adjust the amount of sweetener to your taste.
For a thicker milkshake, use less milk or add a banana or frozen yogurt.
Experiment with different flavors! You can add fruits like mango, strawberries, or chocolate syrup.
You can also use flavored milk, like rose milk or cardamom milk, for a different twist.
