Here's a very personal account of growing up in Basildon in the 1960s and 70s. Apologies to Don McLean for pinching half of his famous title.

Love Basildon, just cant afford to go home... You Missed Raquels disco out, loved working there with Keith, What happened to Woodland school, saw a pic, ??? plus Swan mead skewl :) Double six pub... I was a barman there :) Dont care what people say, I loved Basildon

My home town 1964 - 1979. So many memories of growing up here, but mostly I miss the people who were part of my childhood that are gone now. Seeing this reminds me of them. Thanks for sharing.
