Multiple Fire Crews Responded to a flat Fire in Basingstoke
Shortly after 8 PM on 20th January 2025, multiple fire crews responded to a significant fire on a block of flats in Wiltshire Crescent, Basingstoke.
Passers-by discovered thick plumes of smoke coming out from one of the ground floor’s windows.
They proceeded to alert the residents and called the fire services.
More than 50 fire fighters and about 5 fire engines and other vehicles arrived at the scene knocking on the doors and helping the residents to evacuate the building.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, jets, and hoses to control and extinguish the fire. Ventilation fans were then used to clear the remaining smoke from the properties affected.
The occupants of the ground floor where the fire originated was not at home when the fire break out.
The fire fighters rescued one dog and three cats. All residents and animals were safe.
According to the fire fighters, the fire was accidentally started by a dish washer.
It took them more than 3 hours to completely put out the fire. This led to a road block on Old Kempshott lane.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service provided fire safety advice to nearby residents before returning to their stations.
