Man I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but I just want to say thank you for this series. I just rebuilt my motor that had a spun bearing. I rode it for about 20 mins and the same bearing spun again. I’m about to have to tear it down again tomorrow and see what’s up. Think the con rod might be slightly warped and didnt catch it the first time. Sucks but got to do what you got to do. Keep up the videos man they are a big help!

Be sure to check the oil pump well and make sure the clearance is correct with some plasti-gauge. If the rod is discolored it's most likely not usable.

At first I was wondering why it took so many goes to get the gap right, I can now saw I understand! Im an expert at installing and removing my cam ladder after doing it what felt like 10 times to get my shims where I was happy. There is for sure some trial and error even with the maths! I think my new approach will just be to go down 1-2 shim sizes depending on feel and try again rather than stress over getting it exact! Really useful real world video and steps to getting it right, or as close as you can!

Yes, it can be a little fiddly, especially on the 20 valves. I think the issue comes with measuring gaps this small at different angles etc so it can take a little trial and error to get them spot on. But when you do they run much better in my opinion.

Great video! I have only adjusted valves on a pushrod motor with rocker arms. to what point on the cam do you measure the gap?

You do number 1 on the timing mark on the crankshaft, then 180 degrees for number 2 then 180 degrees again which will be the timing mark on the crank again for number 4, then 180 degrees again for number 3. So you always do 1,2,4,3.
