When you’re two feet behind the player, the ball even further away and you still swing your arm across the head of the player even though you have no chance of getting the ball it’s NOT a basketball play. The other defender gets way above CC and makes a great check, that IS a basketball play. Reese had no need to foul CC, it was an intentional foul on the player. If the officials don’t start to keep players safe there could well be serious injuries to some players. Intentional fouls are not part of the game and should result in expulsion from that game. Most spectators go to games to watch skilful players and closely contested, exciting games; they do not want to watch spiteful thuggish players.

@@RevMeo we must agree to disagree, perhaps I should have said I don’t watch basketball for the vicarious enjoyment of violent play. Maybe the fact that I’m British and enjoy the basketball I played in my youth where foul or violent play was penalised and you were not well regarded if you were a ‘dirty’ player. I don’t want to see deliberate foul play, it’s unnecessary and unprofessional. However contact through honest competition just needs officiating fairly. The truth is that Angel is a "thug", not only does she go after Clarke but she can't even accept responsibility. The WNBA incorporated a rule " to not allow players to get hit in the head." That rule has been used in the WNBA BEFORE Angel was in the WNBA. Stop giving someone credit for playing dirty, and not accepting responsibility.... most people aren't interested in that.

Reese jumping up cheering from the bench like they won a championship when Carter did her hipcheck on Clark for no reason the game before proved that they want to play dirty ball. @Najieemartin The point of a joke is the absurdity or satire. If it's purposefully not funny, the irony is the satire. Nothing is a joke and everything is a joke. You're asking a fundamentally absurd question. Which is hilarious. By the way, aren't comments supposed to add to the conversation? In other words, try not to be so banal.

I am ok with a deliberate foul. That is arguably a tactic. But a deliberate foul that has a fair chance of causing serious injury, I am not ok with that. In my mind, that even applies to football. Whacking someone in mid air is dangerous. The person can come down wrong with a very bad injury. I speak from experience, having torn an ACL that way.

That's why is is called " Sport " which has a better meaning than the game, it's the character of the players that matters. It's not how you win the game but how you play the game. Playing dirty making an excuse that committing foul is part of the game is fair and square but making it an excuse when fouling is deliberate and destructive trying to destroy your opponent is not "Sport", it's hatred and envy no more no less.

I mean, with how some of the players have been talking, with how Reese has talked, and with some of the fouls CC has been hit with I don't blame ppl not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. If CC did a similar foul to someone no one would freak out. Why? Because there is no reason to believe CC hates/dislikes someone. She doesn't put her foot in her mouth and is very professional.

I didn't and had no desire. I laughed loudest at Bill Burr's bit about the WNBA and it was the lowest hanging fruit of a joke that was funniest because he said the obvious out loud. But now, I'm here for CC, Iowa home girl. And I get to see what the WNBA is all about, the controversy they are willing to court and the how the refs call the game. I like how the women's game focus on fundamentals, real defense, and a player like CC can carve her name into history. I'm big fan of Smith, Mitchell, and Boston as well, there is no Fever without those three. CC is very fortunate to be able to play with those girls and I love watching their emerging chemistry. I would like to see more enforcer roles on the team as they have to face the players who have to play dirty just to keep up, have to play dirty just to see their names being mentioned, lazy players who have no shine except to play like a thug.

Reese needs to be kicked out of the WNBA for her blatant dislike and outrageous behavior towards Clark. To me, it doesn’t matter who the recipient is. This behavior by Reese is not professional and the more it is allowed to happen the more WNBA’s reputation will sink until they are truly the butt of the joke.
