Everything you say is true. Just to be complete : Morvan Marchal got also inspiratoin from the American flag because president Wilson had been a strong supporter of the Peoples' freedom, so the American flag wad symbolizing Liberty at that time. Marchal also got inspired by the Greek flag because Greece is the birthplace of Democracy.

Croeso. Basque has no language group. It is a language isolate. It is its own language family, unrelated to others.

@R B It is not clear how distinct the Picts were from anyone. They could have been quite similar to Cumbrians in so far as ancient Britain was not divided by Roman walls.

@R B Basque has a different grammatical structure to these languages. It is not a Latin based language. No language is pure. They all borrow ideas and vocabulary from neighbouring languages. Basque is no different. It may have been castellanizado to some extent under the dictator Francisco Franco as it was banned on only Spanish was taught under his regime. But no it is no like French or Spanish.

I had heard Basque described as a Celtic langauge once. Is Hungarian in a language group or is it also a language isolate?

Hungarian is distantly related to FInnish and Estonian, an closer to Mari which is in north central Russia.
