Drop shot, 1/16 oz weight, 12 lb flouro, 2.5” paddle tail and a circle hook. Rig it through the nose like a live minnow. Slow drag back with rod tip up.

I'm still hanging on to the spinnerbait bite in the mornings but the top water bite is starting to come into play. Other than the deep crank and big worm, I rely on a flick shake rather than a drop shot because I can cover more water if I have to.

One thing I've found success in using on grass that's around 3-4 feet under the surface is a weightless worm. Even though it's weightless, the worm falls super slowly. Just my 2 cents on getting a bite and also keeping the bait nice and clean/grass free
@joearceneaux98546 ай бұрын
My go-to that worked in many different places & situations was a 1/8oz Texas rigged black & bronze 4-6” soft plastic lizard/salamander. Or weightless on a ultralight/very light spinning rig.

If I'm fishing a largeish pond, will the bass still go deeper? I haven't caught a fish over 2 pounds in a while, except for a 4 and a quarter on a chatterbait, I was fishing it a little deeper than I normally do. But 10 foot is the max depth plus submerged vegetation. What should I throw? The forage is bluegill, black crappie, and big shinner.

Fluke, weightless. 18” leader with a barrel swivel to give it not only a pivot point when you twitch your fluke, but it adds a little weight to to make the fluke fall head down quicker, also when you twitch it w a barrel swivel leader, it prevents it from blowing out. I prefer a 5” caffeine shad- 4” if I’m on a smaller fishery. A fluke , frog (most top waters) , and shakey head worm or free rig soft plastic (sometimes a hybrid swim jig or miniMAX) those are all you need. You can fish mats without weights if you have the right baits for the job for instance a Bottom Up scupper frog. Throw that on a Mat weightless..let it sit..then frantically swim it away from the mat- they’ll come up and blast it.

Use a Texas rig style bait to drag along the bottoms, not really looking for a bite, but to find downed structure in the water. Once you find the structure, you’ll know that spot holds fish most likely You can also find the natural creek in most reservoir ponds and they’ll sit along that naturally

Keep it cheap Walmart tiger rods or ugly stick gx2 the ugly stick reels even decent enough to stick with first year buy a pack of zoom trick worms black is my fav and a qtr ounce lead Texas rig weight and an ewg hook a pack of jig heads/hooks and a 3-4 inch swimbait go slay king. Keep it under 100$ cheaper if u FB marketplace shop
@LoErwin6 ай бұрын
Wacky rig a senko of trick worms aren't the move profile wise. Consider a nicely made damiki rig minnow or just buy a container of nightcrawlers hook it 3 or 4 times on a small octopus hook fish every cast.

Tyler, love your takes for lures and soft plastics, but it doesn't work for me because you're in Ohio and I'm in Utah. The lakes and reservoirs in my state has rip raps and rocky bottoms. Deep dive crankbaits, wacky worm rigs are essential for my success and topwater never works in June and the rest of the summer months.
@jimb34576 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm on Lake Lanier in Georgia. You try bouncing a crankbait off the bottom, and you will lose that lure on the first cast. I wish I had a rocky bottom, instead of a friggin forest.
