I'd love to fish cold open water. Unfortunately here in central Iowa, we've had ice on the water as soon as Dec hit.

Are you leaving your thumb on the spool lightly while skipping it ?

Down here in Southeast Louisiana, all the baits you named work pretty all year rouns. Actually, the ones you named is pretty much all you need.

very good video. if you can add knot strength for the most tied such as palomar knot or improved clinch knot. it would be great.

In the north leas shad lakes and more perch lakes. Pretty much everything people say about seasons/weather/bait needs to be rethought here. I've had to leave a wacky dead in the water during prime fall bite. I've had to go topwater while its snowing. The north is its own animal.

Also basically all my baits are either black, green, or yellow perch color. White and blue are niche here.

I’ve had an issue with T7 breaking in the spool after a minor backlash. Something really easy to clean up and on meet cast my lure launches off into the water and lost. Something I am no linger using that line. I know this has happened with 12 lb and believe 17 lb as well. Casting could have been better. I have used Pline blur box fluro and memory is bad in that one, but was recommended by Pline rep to use Tactical and casting is huge improvement from the blue box or T7. Time will tell on other factors since just have two rods upgraded at this point.

I live on Lake Marion is SC I have an eighty-foot dock with twenty feet of frontage on the tip. I have zero problem with fishermen fishing around the dock if they hit the dock so be it, just don't hit my boat or come ashore! Everyone has the right to fish any dock, in navigable water period, enjoy fishing!

I just starting to use the jighead Minnow. Shaking it like you do . Going to try this on saturday hopefully. I'm always learning on your videos.Thank you . Should be getting my order tomorrow. Can't wait to use my bass's hats

Lets take a look at the facts here. Dude has a house on the water. Dude has a dock on the lake where he has a house. Dude doesn't own the water. Fish love hanging aroung docks. People like to fish where fish hang out. Dude need to move or STFU! He probably sits by the back window all day so he can run out and yell at people.

I fish the jig head monnow almost exclusively at my favorite lake. I use it mostly for trout but it does pretty well on smallmouth too. I should try it more in the winter on the little pond I fish. In fact I'm going out tomorrow so I'll spend an hour on a jerk bait, and hour on a jig head and them another couple hours on a jig or ned rig. There's some fairly big bass in there but getting them to bite when the water is cold is definitely a challenge.

I am not sure of the legal implications and I understand that a dock owner can't legally do anything if a fishermen decides to fish on their dock but couldn't dock owners just put out a sign or something to let fishermen know they would prefer to have their dock left alone? I feel like this would avoid unnecessary confrontation.

Great video. The jig head minnow fishing was very helpful instruction. I bought some core tackle hover rigs and picasso ball head jigs to try out. Hasn’t been successful but I’ve also been hopping them like a Ned or jig, didn’t think to reel like that

Hey Tyler! i recently got gifted a 5.6:1 reel; what would be a good setup to run with this reel?

Should be a good crankbait reel, so I’d put it on a slightly more moderate rod like a 7 ft or a little less like 6’9.

I’ve found that on the ponds I fish, they don’t bite much when I actually jerk a jerkbait. I get way more bites when I use a slightly downsized jerkbait, like the Megabass 110 Jr, and just reel or pull and pause. They usually kill it on the pause. I’ve also done well this year throwing jig head minnows. No need for sonar. Just reel and twitch with some pauses and HANG ON! 😁

I appreciate your content!! I started getting serious about fishing back in the summer here in Arkansas. I’ve been struggling to catch fish this winter until watching your channel. Luckily the water on the Arkansas river is still 57° but the 30° temperature changes night/day have been making things challenging. I hooked 6 bass this evening using a smaller soft swim bait after watching some of your videos.

nice mixing it up Tyler, and going back to the roots! Enjoyed it. I actually went to my childhood pond 2 weeks ago and slayed them on blade Vault bream pattern. As you know, it is crazy how effective that blade is in cold water. Merry Christmas!
