Bass Clone sounds to me so “Goth/Post Punk” cool. Boss the most “aggressive”. MXR is modern.
@craigdamage Жыл бұрын
yeah, the Bass Clone is pure early 80s "4AD" sound.
@belugasemmel Жыл бұрын
@@craigdamage Agreed. The MXR is a bit more subtle in some aspects than the Boss, but the huge plus is the flanger option. If you're short on your money, I'd suggest getting the Boss (unless you're really 80s, then it's the Clone...); then the Clone and the Boss if you're into chorus, they complement each other pretty well. Then add the MXR to get more nuances and flanging.
@craigdamage Жыл бұрын
@@belugasemmel I do in fact already own the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe and I actually like the Flanger better than the Chorus. That said....the best bass chorus I have ever owned is a T-Rex 'The Sweeper" and the best bass flanger is a vintage Maxon BF-01that I found on Reverb in mint condition for only $80.

I had the Boss CEB3 for years - I totally agree that it’s a bit subtle. It’s nice when you’re playing on your own but I had gigs where I’d left it on by mistake and not even noticed it was on! I since realised that the sound I was actually looking for was a flanger. I got the TC electronics thunderstorm and I love it, I found that it’s so much more noticeable in a band setting than the chorus pedal. I feel you get more versatility from a flanger - you can almost get flanger, chorus and phaser all in a flanger pedal by playing with the controls.

I already have an mxr chorus with the Low Filter. I need a flanger and chose the mxr chorus deluxe to use as a FLANGER, with the Low Cut engaged. Ideally to keep my low end intact. I hope it works out on the gig.

I've had the bass clone for about a year and recently sold it. It was ok. And I've tried a few other chorus pedals over the years just to play around with. But the only two effects I use is compression and distortion in my sound. All I play is mainly 80' s Metal and some classic rock from the 70's so those two effects are pretty much all I need for a really great sound. Verygood video🙂🤘

Boss for me. Perfect subtle chorus for cover band, real life applications where bottom end matters the most but you also need here and there the chorus effect. Before i used the t-rex bass chorus and it was also nice , but sometimes too much.

I had the MXR and am selling it after getting the Bass Clone for $40. The MXR does have the best feature set, the implementation of some of them are really bad, IMO that's kinda common with MXR bass pedals (ie. Blowtorch). The X-over feature is a fantastic idea and a crucial feature for bass chorus pedals, but the MXR's crossover has a huge 20hz boost. It's not so much a crossover as it is a drastic EQ on the wet and dry signals.

I've had the EHX for a couple of years now, and I'm quite happy with it. I think mxr sounds the best and offers the most out of all of them, but pricewise Ehx seems to be the most affordable, and to me, doesnt sound as soulles as the Boss does.

Great video. At some point it'd also be great to see a side-by-side comparison with non-bass chorus pedals. Some players swear the x-over does nothing for them in practice. And other pedals like my long-time favorite MXR Analog Chorus have way more flexible low/high filters (but alas, also tone suck).

The settings are not dialed in right on the boss. For best results, keep level pretty high so it's not as subtle. Then dial in the rate to be moderate and depth to taste. Then cut back on the low filter just enough so things aren't muddy.
@jayreynolds22429 ай бұрын
Yeah, agreed. Effect level needs to be kept high for this one if you want it to be apparent, as compared to other choruses with relatively less wet mixed in. It's a nice chorus effect, imo.

I came here just to see if the EHX sounds decent before purchasing. I already avoid Boss because I have had too many Roland products crap out on me. MXR jams the AC port up against the input jack which screws with pedal board layout options. I wish Jim Dunlop would get with the program and move the AC input to the top (front? back?) on all of their pedals. MXR and EHX both could learn something about ease of battery access from Boss. I don’t want to find a screwdriver to change batteries.

Why not do the following: into a looper, record a sequence of useful riffs without effects. Then run the loop into each pedal in turn, revamping if needed. Twist knobs as desired. Apples to apples!
@davedixon21672 жыл бұрын
Hi Ike - that is exactly what we do! The riffs are done into a Wiretap while being filmed, and then those playback “loops” are what is being fed through each pedal. You can see those loops reused between pedals and even across other videos for different effects.
