Every time I hear bass clarinet music like this, I cry to myself because in normal band we just have whole notes. Ah, the sweet sound of bass clarinets being important.
@Realcowgirl105 жыл бұрын
Kyla Doodles lol that’s why I appreciated my high level high school band and college band I’m now in. Constraining the bass to whole notes is disrespectful 😂

Michael, many, many thanks! An orchestra I play in did this about a month ago and having your coaching almost literally saved my bacon! Next up, 3rd part in Mahler Sym 1.

12:30 - I think the thing about that 'choked' high C is to do with the German-system bass clarinet. Their fingering is R, LT and L2 (like on their soprano clarinets) and always sounds a bit stuffy. (To be honest, I kind of like that colour at that particular moment of that particular recording, but if you make that sound on a French-system instrument then something has gone wrong.)

@hugofritz82384 жыл бұрын
keep in mind, that in German Symphonic Orchestras no Boehm Clarinets are used, not even for the bass, and a high C is by far the hardest note on a Oehler system. There is no such ugly note on the Boehm system at all.
@bv743532 жыл бұрын
Because of the location of the register vents on clarinets of that system.

The tenor tuba is not a euphonium. They just are incredibly similar, so the euphonium is used as a substitute.

How do you recommend handling the awkward fingerings in the first measure of 73 into the next bar? I have a low Eb horn. Should I Take a breath after the half note? Or after the first measure? Is there an alternate fingering that I should use?

Ok, so I'm in a 7th/8th grade band (but it is only my friend and me) and I LOVE to play my Bass Clarinet, but it breaks all the time, and it's like, almost always in the shop. And I also have a solo that I'm very nervous about for my solo on sombles. Any tips?
