Back in the 90s, I (an American) traveled to Birmingham, England with a group of madrigalists to perform some sacred music in the cathedral they have in the center of that working-man's city. We were completely unprepared for the flashing lights and the rave atmosphere. We were not invited back. Truly, they do things differently in the UK.
