Are all the ones you broke brown? All (most) of the ones I’ve broken have been old brown ones. I read somewhere that the coloring they use for brown leads to those pieces breaking more than others. Apparently making brown LEGO is a challenge.

the reason you ended up breaking a lot of brown bricks is because they used a particular dye in the molding process that ended up making the bricks brittle, I'm pretty sure they fixed it around 2018

The reason those pieces are breaking is because the brown pieces from around 2008 to 2013 had paint that made the plastic easier to break same thing with dark brown and dark red
