Good stuff mate, from my experience those surface splashes are most likely to be massive shoals or mullet. See that a lot fishing in France and Portugal.

I’ve used 26lb Daiwa J braid for a few years which I really like. Lately I’ve been using braid by Samson fishing which is also very good.
