Just seen your channel Cal, a breath of fresh air. You are definitely a rival with Fish Disco for the bragging rights on catch and cook mate. (obviously you are both chefs) I can't believe you used razor clams as bait to catch bream, don't get me wrong, bream are delicious eating but personally, I'd rather eat the razor clams 😋 Keep up the good work Cal, I'll be watching and have just subscribed. Good luck with the fishing and I'm looking forward to some more videos.

Thanks very much! I can’t say I've heard of Fish Disco so I'll have to check that channel out. Haha, I know what you mean about the razors. They’re really tasty, I love the sweetness to them, but these were just frozen ones. I'd only ever eat fresh razors personally. Thanks for subscribing and checking out the video! Much appreciated!

Fabulous Cal, funnily enough everyone around Milford Haven seem to think neep tides are the best for gilt-heads. Following on from my last comment, what knot do you use for leaders? Thinking I may try Yucatan as FG is not agreeing with my brain. Is chef'ing your day job?
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah, Giltheads can be caught on most tides really. It will depend on the venue obviously. As far as leader knots go, I never use them for bait fishing. For lure fishing I use a size 8 swivel instead of a knot. I always keep pre-tied leaders with me when lure fishing. I will use a variation on the albright knot for certain things when bait fishing.
@selfdestructint2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, yeah have thought about making up leaders, would certainly keep lures in the water for longer, I can lose twice as many in each session! 😁

Thanks! Usually I will dig the razors myself but these were actually bought frozen. I managed to get 2 big bags of them. Most of the time, I'm working during the big low tides so these are a good enough back up to have.

@@FISHINGWITHCALNice. I think Razors are an underrated bait. I had my PB smooth-hound of 8.5lbs on razor and squid cocktail while just along from me were 5 guys from the local angling club all using peeler and didn’t catch a single hound.

Enjoyed that one, lure change did the trick. I've found the hound glide in that same colour has been doing well for me these past 2-3 weeks on night sessions, unfortunately lost a very good fish and the lure last weekend, but have some copies that are still catching for me.

@@BYF1 Yes mate, it was worth trying a few lures on this occasion. It shows the bass were there but not too interested in the other lures. I really like this colour too. I have a few of the IMA lures all in the Bora Mullet colour. At certain times of the year, they’re all I use for a few weeks. Proven bass catchers!

Hi, the water seems clear. If u fish with ima pugachev's cobra z2134 color, you will catch x100 fish you catch now when the wind is not strong during daylight. That color is smt else, if u find the same color in any other top water lure, it might also work.

Started watching your videos recently and I'm "hooked" as a complete novice I'm trying to learn as much as I can from all you guys, must say I really enjoy them but most of all very educational 👍 one question if I may what is the bass season ? Is it all year round or do they disappear over the winter ?,any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you..
@FISHINGWITHCAL10 күн бұрын
@@69cookiemunster I’m glad you find the videos helpful mate. In Guernsey, you can target bass all year round. In certain parts of the south coast of England you can also target bass through winter but further north it’ll die off. Water clarity plays a big part over in the Uk for lure fishing. We don’t have that problem over here though.
