Start with Monsters to understand Iam's journey (you can find the clips that give the context--like on this one, Iam wasn't comfortable bc his guitar that was a present from his recently deceased father wasn't working right before he went on stage--Iam promised his dad he would use that guitar on every performance so it was really hard for him to pull it together and Oliver really supported him)!

When he performed “Cool Down” in the finale, Iam had some baritone singers that sounded great in the chorus. This video has a few million views. They also performed “Photograph” in front of Ed Sheeran who enjoyed their duet. In this song these two guys did not have much time to practice and get the words down and then the pre amp broke and took more time to figure out what to do . They were wonderful in this combo.

Interesting that you too can’t quite find a way to describe Iam’s voice. There is something very special about it. With every song during this contest, it was almost shocking when he would begin to sing, like we’d never heard anything remotely close to it before. And it’s beautiful besides, and somehow really touching. Anyway, you do need to listen to Iam’s other performances, especially his audition, which is almost magical in the way it came off.

WOW I absolutely appreciate your reaction as I have never understood the different terminologies for the variety of vocal fluctuations. As you may guess I come from zero music background. Now with a bit more understanding, future conversations will make more sense. 🤭 I am super curious as to how you would react and analyze a brilliant artist from New Zealand by the name of STAN WALKER. What amazes me is not only does his voice sound beautiful, but his range is crazy good and that comes from a man whose stomach was removed due to stomach cancer that killed many generations of his family due to a mutated gene. There's a full documentary. But anyways he went through this experimental surgery of removing the stomach and attaching the esophagus direct to his intestine. But his voice sounds so anointed. I promise you won't be disappointed. Please and Thank you for hopefully doing a reaction. Im so eager to watch😀🙏
