As a complete ignorant about music theory and all this kind of stuff, when I watch your videos, I feel like music is universal language. Obviously most of the songs you put to the musicians to hear on this series, is not the type of music that they usually hears or play, but even this, when they hear the original song, they seems to really apreciate the drum and the bass line. Otherwise, it seems like no matter the genre of music that a musician usually play or hears, it can regonize and apreciate a great drum/bass line in any type of song. It's really fun to see this.

So ya don't have to worry too much if theory isn't too locked in. I'm ass at theory. Lol. But if we locking in with the other musicians, and making the room feel good, that's a dub in my eyes. Clay is a pretty iconic bassist though and he comes through if you have a decent sound system. I do think part of the issue can be that he tends to play with the kick a lot and also leaves a lot of room for the guitars so people often don't appreciate the sheer feel and groove of his lines. He has a cool technique where he hybrid picks with slap style pops to accent the high notes.
