Can't believe you haven't seen this one! Fun to see a first-time reaction to a song I've listened to dozens of times the past year Geoff is, as always, crazy with his bass notes. But it's not often that the reactor can hit the same notes :) From what I've read, the Grinch in the video is the 'actual' Grinch: someone who famously works as portraying the Grinch and whose real identity is unknown.

Totally agree that Adriano's voice is superb! And at the time VoicePlay recorded this (2 years ago), she was only 16! That effortless flip up into head voice, then back down out of it, and all the rest. Amazing vocalist!
@christinestromberg40572 жыл бұрын
Adriana was 15 or 16 I believe when she did this. She is the daughter of friends of Geoff. She has also appeared in their We're Good, Frozen 2, Good For You, and some minis. She's got a great voice. I love Geoff as bass guitar. He does it so well.
@ilonadever82492 жыл бұрын
This is one of four full length pieces that Adriana has done with them. They have worked with her parents, and for her 15th birthday, invited her to do the Frozen II Medley with them. Her mother still has to accompany her when she works because of her age. It is so much fun watching the joy on your face when Geoff sings. Eli freuently covers the bass when Geoff is doing a higher solo. I think he could have been doing it the first time, because he was not singing the same text as the others, but that last one, I agree. Geoff had to have been double tracked. Really enjoy your reactions, and loved your duet with Jennifer Glatzhofer !
@jonadabtheunsightly2 жыл бұрын
In a lot of cases, Eli will pick up the bass line for live performances, where Geoff is double-tracked for the official music video. One very notable exception is Oogie Boogie, where they use a Geoff-bassline backing track even for live performances, because otherwise they would need a sixth singer, not even counting Sandy.
@daventunes38222 жыл бұрын
Adriana has done maybe 3 full videos and a couple of "minis" with Voiceplay. My favorite of those is "We're Good." She's quite young (said from the perspective of my 60-mumble years) but has a fantastic voice and more than holds her own with the guys. Thanks for your analysis of this one!

Thank you a lot for this. 🙂❤ I always look forward to your NEXT video, especially about VP. 🙂 Another thing that I love is that I can FEEL the respect you have for your fellow singers. Humbleness is rare, and for that reason even more appreciated, at least by me. ❤ Have a GREAT Christmas, and let me wish the incoming year to be the best 2023 EVER! 😉

Aware, the song was taken from a TV cartoon animation special that aired originally on CBS December 18, 1966. Boris Karloff (classic movie vampire) was both the Grinch & the narrator although many attribute the Grinch's voice sounding like Jim Carrey from the 2000 movie. I guess it was the race for Christmas dollars racing first with well-written & produced 'Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer' (NBC December 6, 1964), then Charlie Brown Christmas (CBS December 9, 1965), Grinch 1966 & 'Frosty the Snowman' (CBS December 7, 1969). As one commenter already posted, Thurl Ravenscroft ('Tony The Tiger' Kellogg's Frosted flakes) sang the original bass version "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" on the special. It was him singing completely throughout the song singing all the lyrics. It wasn't broken into sections for a group. (Interesting fact, he was accidentally removed from the credits. People thought Boris sang it, finally studio recognized error & corrected it listing him.) During the song, at one point Ravenscroft does speak the words and answers himself. If Geoff had done it in the exact manner, no one else could have been able to answer as it goes down & down, so upped it a little talking in his natural speaking voice.

Yeah, I used to think the PTX version of this song was amazing and the best possible version ever... and then I found VoicePlay's version, and it just blew it out of the water, no comparison, not even playing in the same ball park.
@Gael4ce2 жыл бұрын
PTX is damn good - their singing is top notch. But…they don’t bring the silly. They’re just too dignified sometimes. This track *needs* silly. And no one beats VoicePlay when it comes to bringing the silly. 😊 There are few things I love more than awesome vocals served up with a side of giggles.
