The home theater crowd have been doing this for a while to add tactile response in movies and music. There is the Boss, Hover Boss, Boss EZ.... many variants... of adding drivers to chairs, couches, etc. I've seen an 18-inch sub added to the back of a recliner. It was awesome! LOL!

What a wonderful idea and you are right the thing is shaking even if it is completely isolated from the inside maybe one day I put also a subwoofer in the other part of the sofa the big part of the sofa it is incredible how much effects it adds to a movie but I don’t think you would be scared and jump out of the window😃 by the way for girls it must be very stimulating if you know what I mean …

A few things I'd note, one is you really dont want to just sound dampen, that will not stop the wood from flexing. You need to brace it with a crossbrace, boards along the interiors panels, or additional baffles. The next big thing is your port was just a hole cut in the box, and the last thing is the things base that it rests on seals the entire face of the woofer to the floor, blocking most of its output, however it probably stops the hole port from making it sound totally terrible. I'd suggest finding a way to brace it, adding a pvc tube of some length on the port.. its s large cavity so it doesnt need to be too long, and some feet to raise it and let the sound out. Only an inch or two is needed.

Don't forget about 45 degree corners also
@mattwells1036
@mattwells1036 2 жыл бұрын
@@jordanbiseau750 that's a good thing too, but one that most boxes wont have, and many good sounding boxes too. My subwoofer box didnt, mostly because I dont have something that I can guarantee will cut perfect 45s. Guess they don't actually have to he perfect, which I only now thought of. I'd add some later but I polyfilled the entire inside already lol. I feel like I'd worry more about that in a tower speaker that has woofers playing upper bass.
@mattwells1036
@mattwells1036 2 жыл бұрын
@@jordanbiseau750 for reference my sub box is 15x19×36. Made of 3/4 inch, with a t brace in the middle just a bit away from the single 12 sundown sub. The sub is about 30lbs and rated 750w continuous. And it's a competition brand so it can handle much more for a time. If I had a sub like he had, I might not worry about bracing with what the woofer is capable of but what I have is much more capable, so i needed to brace it. I also want to lower its tuning and add a port extension, it's a slot port. Its tuned a bit below 30hz and with how capable it is, I'd rather tune it lower for more range and less spl, since I am using it I'm my stereo setup.
@savage6394
@savage6394 2 жыл бұрын
I would also worry about that amp heating up and the heat not having anywhere to go. A set of short legs would give the amp room to breath and the sub to move.
@JohnPatrickChristopher
@JohnPatrickChristopher 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your wonderful input! - I´ve tried it with a PVC-Tube, but the sound was much better without it. That's why I did not use it ... The Space between the Speaker and the floor is about 5cm. - I don´t know how it works, but the BASS is super clean and has an enormous blast.

@@chasebullington7237 probably 1000w peak. Most of those kind of amps are that way. Oooh, a 400w amp! Woohoo! Oh, wait, rated at 125w RMS. If you know the amp draw of the amplifier (usually 1-1.5A), you can figure out max RMS. A 1A fuse on a 120v circuit gives a 120W RMS max. A 1.5A fuse would be a 180W RMS max.

That sub is good for ~275w RMS and that box is big enough for four of them. A properly sized box, or enough subs to fill it and it would sound so much better. The idea is good, execution poor.

Thank you for your feedback. But for me, for my neighbors, and the whole town, the Bass seems to be more than enough.

Very poor execution. And it's unlikely the dog next door would hear this. Basically putting a woofer that's meant to have 1 cubic foot sealed in an infinite baffle...
@joefair3391
@joefair3391 2 жыл бұрын
@@KGReef Pretty much. Even if there was a wall on either side of the woofer to give appropriate airspace, and getting rid of the foam junk inside...that would help so much. The output from this would be poor at best.

People been doing this since the 80s bro... We used to search garage sales for old sofas with the Hide-a-Bed fold out mattress and gut out the bed frame and build out the entire bottom of a three wide sofa with 4 12 inch earthquakes and 8 cubic feet of air ported and tuned to 28hz ... Sitting on those couches was INSANE during movie nights with the girls 🤙🏼🤙🏽🤙🏿
