Bass tone battle Epiphone EB0 short scale vs Harley Benton PB20 Precision Bass

Another battle of the one pickup wonders. Here's a couple of inexpensive import basses going at it. You have the Epiphone short scale EB0 with it's infamous mudbucker pickup. Competing for your attention is the Harley Benton Standard Series PB20 Precision Bass. This one has a USA Seymour Duncan pickup in it. Both basses recorded on a Zoom G1xOn guitar processor using the same patch.

Thanks for the video. Waiting for my PB20 to arrive, got a few upgrades planned but not to the level of the SD at this point. I've never really been into the EB0 or it's style really, it's biggest appeal is short scale to me. Someone made a Gibson SG bass into a fretless though (it's on a diff channel so I won't link) and that has made me debate what an EB0 fretless would be like ;) That made the thought of making a PB20 fretless appear. You are putting bad ideas in my head ;)

Either they are or were. I generally get on trend of buying things I've never played before to check them out and then realizing I have way too many and selling a bunch off. The quest to find the "perfect" bass isn't really something I think that has a real end. For me basses are like PokemonL I want to collect them all :) But then common sense will kick in at some point. I try to get used things at a decent price so I don't lose my shirt in the process.

Cool video, though the EB-0 does not have a true mudbucker, it's a fake HB put under a mudbucker cover, hence why the tone is weak and anemic, a real mudbucker would absolutely *smack* the front of an amp, really shakes some butts! Sounds like this:kzbin.info/www/bejne/an3QZn5piK5ggLM
