Best demo of the NordyMute.. Only one I have seen to have the sense to let us hear it with and without. Great playing and tone. Why they don’t sell this on Amazon like their other products is beyond me. When they do I will buy one.

I've had the Jamerson set of LaBellas on my '65 P since the day I bought it back in 1998. Okay, so it tweaks the neck a bit - who needs anything past the 14th fret anyway, right? 😂

Just got mine. IMO worth the $40. Tone is consistent and easy to put on and off. The wood topping looks a lot better than a kitchen sponge shoved under your strings.

That is awesome. Looks like it works much better than the Gruvgear Frump which just never worked correctly the way I wanted it. Been looking to replace it with something and this Nordymute seems to be it.
@mildmanneredjanitor0
@mildmanneredjanitor0 5 жыл бұрын
I also have the fump and I'm actually happy with it. What didn't work for you, if I may ask?
@Snibborwocky
@Snibborwocky 5 жыл бұрын
@@mildmanneredjanitor0 The problem with the fump is that it if your strings are slightly different heights, the muting is inconsistent from string to string due to the fump sliding in sideways across all the strings. In my case, the E string is way too muted (almost unplayable) and the G string has no muting at all. This Nordymute eliminates all that fuss by sliding down from the top on all strings which just seems more practical to me.

I just bought one of these. It’s really fun! The trick I’ve found is to place the mute as close as you can to the saddles, for a muting effect that is thumpy but still lets the note ring a little.

My orig. 1964 Precision was able to handle the tension of the Jamerson LaBellas without a problem. But I switched to Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats later because they are much nicer to play. The mute is a nice idea. But I had an idea by myself, mixing up the Jamerson and the Carol Kaye methods. I lay the (standard) sponge on top of the strings and secure it with a bit painters tape. So I mixed up the taping of the strings of Carol Kaye and the foam mute of James Jamerson - and made sure of a undisturbed intonation. Thank you for the new videos, l allways enjoy watching. Keep on what you're doing.

Well, the nice thing about this, perhaps the best thing... is how quick and easy it is to remove. I won't necessarily use that kind of muting for every song.
@kongandbasses8732
@kongandbasses8732 5 жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV I don't use the same muted sound for every song, too. I found a stunning Fender MiM 50's Classic Precision with maple fingerboard, built in 2016. With a Lindy Fralin Classic 50's (60's? Not quite sure...) pickup it became my to go axe for unmuted tone. If you just want to carry one bass, the Nordymute is great, handy, easy to use, a good idea. I just brought up my method to show another way to avoid intonation problems that occure when you squash foam under your strings.

@@qdaveq6597 If you that works for you , great. I know quite well how hard it is to make a living in music. Some people try to come up with a clever device for a niche market, I can relate I'd like to do that too- if I can't have a hit ( not that I'm even involved in the pop market). I understand wanting to capitalize on an idea. But I don't like price gouging. And I can make something as good in less time than it takes to make 40 bucks- these days that could be a whole gig, including schlepping. If it has legs ,someone will sell one for less.

Hey, I've got a drawer full of bits of foam, cut up sponges, felt, rubber... I could start an arts and crafts store. The point of this thing really... speaking as someone that actually gigs with something like this... is the easy on/off. I think the intonation is much better this way, but I'd also like to hear this done with a softer, open cell foam.
