WOW what an adventure! Thank you for caring about and saving abandoned fish, and even taking care of "just a goldfish" that got hurt. Kudos to you. Also, beautiful ponds! You asked for ideas so here are a few I'll toss your way, maybe they'll help you think of other things if these ideas themselves aren't doin' it for ya. I've done similar things before saving tadpoles out of a temporary water situation, so I do think if you can swing it (whether financially or just in terms of how feasible you think it is to do it that way) it will prove useful. Definitely if you're going to be doing more of this, you could benefit from some equipment and I think it would be good to get some kind of pump that would drain water from these ponds and also a nice set of waders (or at least Wellingtons) so you can go into them at least up to the ankle/knee without being worried you'll get a horrible disease or pick up leeches or just never smell the same again lol. If you set up the pump so that the water runs out into a net you can make sure anything that somehow got swept up into the pump is still also getting rescued. I have no idea what such a pump costs though so what may be a more limited but also more budget option is a decent wet/dry shop vac that you can use just for getting into weird little spots that are too hard to cram a net into (you could have just sucked up those little mollies for example). Honestly a good wet/dry shop vac is just the bee's knees anyhow. Another thing that would probably help, even though it's not exactly the fun part, is to clear debris out as much as possible before you even start catching fish. If you'd pulled up the tarp and detritis and as much of those leaves as possible before you started casting there'd be less for them to hide in or for the net to get caught up in. Obviously that's fairly laborious as well but sometimes a bit of extra labor in the beginning will save more down the line. It's also a good idea to look through the muck once you've beached it, because that's primo critter real estate. Again, not fun, but grab some gloves if you're worried you might get cut up or gooped up. Safety first and all that! I think getting a pool skimmer to help with that would be a good start, one of the finer mesh ones. I think a pool skimmer, the shop vac, and some prelim clearing of debris in itself would help a lot, at least in ponds like this one, but beyond that I guess just get a bigger variety of nets and maybe a few more fish-loving, adventurous friends on standby, many hands makes light work as they say.

You should get a small generator and a pump to bring to rescues like this! Would make it a lot easier to catch stuff and know that you've got everything. Also for ponds and creeks you should get a type of net called a minnow seine. You could catch TONS of fish really quickly.

You can try siphoning the pool just make sure a filter is on whatever you’re using to siphon so fish don’t go in the tube. So that easy there’s less water and easier to catch.

Advise the owner he needs to bring the water level up before geological hydrostatic pressure forces the pool up or cracks it. You can get some hosing on the roof gutters for free water in the upcoming rain season. Hope that helps. Looks like you've got a Barbodes Schwanenfeldi (Tinfoil Barb) there and the one looks like a severum; probably downcolored from bullying by the Red Devils. Put him out of their reach and see if it colors up.

Don't forget to keep the fish in quarantine first, and treat any sick ones before you introduce them to the new pond. One time I introduced a salamander to my guppy aquarium without quarantining first, it brought some kind of fungal disease, killed them all in a matter of weeks.

Insane Idea: For small ponds or pools like this i guess you could modify a cast net into a trawl net. In my imagination you could guide a thicker line oder rope through the edge of the net and then attach two parallel poles (maybe telescope) along the opposite sides of the net/rope. The Net is stretched between the end thirds of the two poles. With two people you could run along both sides of the pool or puddle and cover the whole width in one huge scoop. A bit like a professional fishery clears a pond.

There are long handles fine mesh aquarium nets that would be better for catching the mollies. They are designed for large fish in tanks but they use the same fine mesh. You could improvise an extender for the handle to reach the deeper water. They are big enough to catch one of those molly schools in one swipe.

Hello! Quick information about the gray fish with the red fins. Here in germany thise are actually pretty common and are called "Rotfeder" which litteral translation is "red feather". And some of those cray little baby fish I think are also those. Here also an common fished fish is the "Rotauge" which litteral translation is "Red eye". With the "red feather" it is pretty obvious, the fins are red. By the "Red eye" I think a smal area around the eye is in a strong redish color. My father used to take me and my 2 big sisters sometimes fishing by one of his friends (i think) which have an open pond for fisherman and campers. I never caught a fish. EVER. Kinda sad 'bout it, but also kinda not.

Here's a thought - you know that fine net used as curtains? get a piece of pipe (metal) or something else not too heavy and fold one edge or the curtaining over it and sew it several times so the pipe or weights wont move. Attach rope to one side, then the pipe edge (bottom) and then the other side.Cover a piece of wood such as 2 x 4 or dowel across the top with the curtain so you have a top which will float, a bottom edge that will sink and two looser sides. Attach long ropes to all four corners. Toss it in and let the bottom sink. Start dragging it with the heavy end about a foot in front of the top edge as you move. It should catch just about anything in the pool. Note that it will also pick up the crud on the bottom so you don't want to go from one end to the other as it will get VERY HEAVY as it picks up leaves, detritus, dead fish, junk etc as well as the fish.

@BassFishingProductions Hey Bobby Very cool such a wide variety of different fish in the pond. Yes you and @RobsAquatics Rob definitely need to go back and save more fish. Curious to what other large fish are in there. If any of the fish are smart they may be staying at the bottom of the deep end when you are spooking all of them. You guys need to invest in some large nets that are able to catch smaller fish. Just in the few clips you showed I saw so many fish slipping through and flying out of the nets when you were pulling the nets out of the water. Love all the fish you caught!

Towards the end with the two asking what they were. The smaller is definitely have a tinfoil barb, one of my favorite freshwater fish. They like to be in groups, the goldfoil vaiants are a bit smaller but have awesome coloring.

This happened at a local mall, they left at least a dozen koi fish, beautiful fish probably 2-3 pounds each or more. Luckily, an animal rescue crew came and saved them because the mall owner left them to die. It was called sunrise mall / Westfield mall in Long Island

When you're at abandoned pools you should set your fish traps in them overnight used three or four of them in one pool come back the next day with a big bucket or two. "Just saying". 😊

The green fish you caught looks like a female chocolate cichlid. They range in color, from light brown to dark, also green with some brown and light red/pink around the head and fins. Males can grow to over a foot in a big tank. Tough but not too aggressive for a big cichlid tank.

Be very careful because concrete is very porous surface it can absorb chlorine into the walls and then when you feel it with your good water it could reach out of the walls and rechlorinate the pond. So you might have to do something to neutralizing whatever chlorine has absorbed into the walls of your swimming pool
