a large portion of the Japanese Metal scene are all Female bands, there are tons of talented female musicians in Japan. You will find out very very quickly listening to Lovebites music how talented they are, and why they are there. Miyako the black hair guitarist plays multiple instruments but is a world-class shredder and a world-class classical pianist. She didn't even pick up a guitar till she was 18 and self-taught, she had no formal training. She composes and arranges the majority of lovebites music. She is a Virtuoso. Midori the blonde is a speed shredder, very traditional in her approach, much like Dragonforce, Eddie Van Halen, she is fucking brutal. Miyako is more Melodic, her solos have classic elements mixed in, her slow-burn solos are absolutely amazing, and as you can see from this song, she can also speed shred as well. The gender thing doesn't matter, they formed the band with the talent they wanted. They practice like crazy, they are perfectionists, it shows in their music.

Thank you Andy Helms. We found a new wolfpack member. Sorry I didn't open my comment the way you asked, but I will never use the words with anyone, even if it is in jest, because that is who I am. Lovebites is a band made up of phenomenally talented musicians and singer who are relatively unknown to North America due to practically zero promotion. Which is why the wolfpack is trying to promote them through KZbin reactions. They sing 100% in English because their target audience is the world and the band has said they want to come to the USA when things open up. They have toured in the UK and Europe. They won the 2018 Metal Hammer award for best new band. All female rock bands are popular in Japan where there is a much higher percentage of female musicians. Someone said there are over 100 all-female bands in Japan.

I'm late to finding your channel, because I only discovered Lovebites a couple of months ago, and they've become my favorite band. Thanks for the shoutout to Miho (the bassist) in your reaction here. I'm not sure I have ever in anyone's first reaction to Lovebites seen someone give her a shout out over the two solos. That was pretty awesome. She is amazing (replaced noy by Fami, because she left the band). Will miss Miho. Thanks for the reaction!

Thanks Eric. Miho was actually the sole reason I started listening to Lovebites, and I have been devastated by her leaving. She was (is) an amazing bass player, one of the very best in the world. Here's hoping that she returns to the music world, in her own time. :)

LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics: Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood People live in fear, covered in mud Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for sisters There is a thousand, a thousand of evils Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for brothers Shining blade and burning heart Into the Gates of Hell we march Immortal soul, let there be light Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun We are one for all and all for one forevermore Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall Reincarnation, wait for your call Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for sisters Morning star and dying moon Into the Gates of Hell we march Mighty soul, let there be hope Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight? But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for Only have one thing on our mind Facing the fate, holy war Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for brothers Shining blade and burning heart Into the Gates of Hell we march Immortal soul, let there be light Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun We are one for all and for one forevermore What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight? Andy, you suck!!! Thank you! :) I think you need to see their live performance (same gig) of "the Awakening/ Hammer of Wrath" ("The Awakening" is the intro to the song). It has some parts that specifically show off Mihos bass playing. That being said: MIHO! MIHO! MIHO! Unfortunately you heard correctly. Miho, the bassist, founder and leader of the band has decided to leave just this past week. Lovebites went on hiatus for now but promised to be back. While Miho undoubtedly was a big influence, she was not the main song-writer so ... Also there is a great pool of very skilled female musicians in Japan (all girl rock and metal bands have been a thing over there since Show-Ya who started in the 80s). I still hope to see Miho play again, even if it's with a different band because I really like her, have great respect for her skills and love that she is such a die hard metalhead!

Andy, you suck! Well, about Asami (the vocalist): she has an R&B/Soul/Blues, some rock background and she had training as a ballerina for a time in the past. She was COMPLETELY new to heavy metal though, literally. She new nothing about metal. To the point that she had to be informed by Miho (the bassist and founder of the band, unfortunately recently she departed the band) about Judas Priest, Metallica etc. the band formed in 2016 and fun fact, when the did a small European tour, they played in France in a small clab and Duke TV interviewed them and Asami said that it was her second year in metal. The song Holy War is from their album Electric Pentagram, their third album (they also have released 3 EP). Asami became such a metalhead that her favorite songs in their catalog are the thrash songs and she even composed with the help of a composer that works frequently with them (Mao, ex-keyboardist of Light Bringer) one of the heaviest songs in their catalog ( the song Paranoia, from the Glory, Glory To The World Ep). Asami is VERY versatile, she is a complete general on stage, she is the main lyricist and she is 100% committed to the band. We love her immensely.

Andy, you suck! (thanks for suggesting this Andy!) LOVEBITES will defy any expectations you might have, they are one of the best metal bands around today, regardless of genre or country of origin! These are 5 world class musicians who strive for perfection in everything they do. Phenomenal band, especially if you are into their style of music. Sadly, Miho (the amazing bass player and founder of the band) announced she was leaving the band last week. Even almost a week later im still in shock and denial of her announcement. I suggest you check out two polar opposite songs from them "Break the Wall" and "Edge of the World" both Live in 2020 (from the same show as this one). This will give you a glimpse of what LOVEBITES are all about! Hope you enjoy! 🤘🙂🐺

I think test for you was to listen to this band without knowing anything about the band - I bet you would have assumed that it was a male band fronted by a female vocalist. The members of Lovebites are all insanely talented musicians at the top of their game whose flawless live performances are better than many bands' studio recordings. I would put them up against any male metal band and I think they would probably slay the opposition with their technical ability, songwriting skills and live performances. By the way the guitarist screen right with black hair is also a concert performance standard classical pianist. The piano is her first instrument, the guitar is her second. No country is keeping the flame of rock burning quite so brightly as Japan. The number of great bands is staggering, the level of virtuoso musicianship is ridiculously high and the number of kick-ass and bad ass female rock musicians and all female and women-fronted hard rock and metal bands is unrivalled anywhere else in the world. Women in metal in Japan is a tradition that goes back to the early 1980s. You should check 'Break the Wall', 'Scream for Me', 'The Hammer of Wrath' - in fact anything from their Zepp Diver City, Tokyo 2020 and you can't go wrong.

From the hardrock Band-Maid, metalbands like Mary's Blood, Nemophila, Aldious, Hanabie and the list is long. Amazing mix bands like Unlucky Morpheus, Asterism and all guy bands like Galneryus, Gyze. @oliphant28483 жыл бұрын
Andy, you suck, but in a good way. I think a legitimate reason for intentionally having an all-female band is the band chemistry. I can understand it if the ladies prefer to be amongst themselves, as it were; in a society like Japan, where there is still a strong patriarchal undercurrent and a lot of different expectations of the genders, having a mixed group will inevitably change the dynamics. I don't think the more limited pool of talented female candidates will carry that much weight when you try to assemble a band. First of all, every good musician is 10 percent talent and 90 percent discipline and hard work; talent is not so important as is sometimes thought. Second, you might just have to look a little while longer to get the cream of the cream (as in this case). Third, it helps if you have flexible and versatile musicians: for example, Asami (the singer) was completely new to metal but was willing to adapt.
