The singer, Asami, moves around the stage with such elegance and grace because she used to do ballet as a kid. Miyako, the guitarist that played the piano intro, was the typical asian kid that took piano lessons since age 3. She used to participate in classical piano contests until she was 18, then she took the guitar and the rest is history of Metal music.

Some of the information is incorrect. Miyako attended a college of music from age 18 to 22. Midori, the other lead guitarist, dropped out of Kyoto Pharmaceutical University and entered the Osaka school of MI JAPAN, an ESP musician training school, graduating in 2013.

You where spot on with the lead singer. She is a former ballerina dancer. The lady playing the Chopin intro who also did the first guitar solo is an former concert pianist virtuoso. And she started play piano at the age of 3 and started play guitar at the age of 18. The other guitarist is competing in Japanese bodybuilding "fitness" on high level. And is also an remarkable good acustic guitar player... Yes they use backing .But only when they cant play more instruments than they do the same time. And all the backing are done by themselves. Like choirs, some organ, piano (when Miako plays the guitarr at the same time) and some differbt intros for some songs/ concerts. Everything else is played live. And very few live bands that I can think of is capable of sound so great live sound and technicaly skilled so its sounds so good as they do. Epica and Nighwish comes to mind, but on the same skill level not many more.... They are all very short the drummer Haruna is 4.9" and she is called "little big engine" Since this concert was made and on their latest album they have a new basist . Fami "Shining Fingers"... The guitarist/pianist Miako with the more (introverted stoneface) is called "The silent assassin" The other Guitarist Midori is called "The shredder" And Asami the singer is called "The voice"... The two guitarists are both lead guitarists. Inspite of one being lead and one backing as often usual. And they are the the perfect example of one being more introverted and one being more extrovert on the stage. Which showes more of them as persons than that sometimes can be seen as one being more cold. Cause outside the stage they are very warm and open people all of them. Yes they do sing in English but its often good to in my opinion use captions when able. Cause its offcourse not their native language. So sometimes it can be hard to hear the often very good positive uplifting lyrics... The technical skill in this group is beyond amazing. They also do different styles in different songs. Like hardrock, trash metal, powermetal, and plain metal. They said in an interview that the starting rolemodels for them was tge old english and European metal bands. Nowadays they have done their own mixture of everything . And their latest 2023 album is ranked as one of the best metal albums of all metal genres this year. I have never heard a band like them who never done a bad song. You can likely choose any song to react to and its good. Old or new... This is the "rabbit hole of rabbit holes" for you. So much wonderful to investigate. Everyone of them has their own KZbin chanel. I think their new basist Fami has the biggest one. She was big before beginning in Lovebites. Just some trivia I know about them... Much love from Stockholm Sweden/ J

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD-“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TYeJ2mYrVqeqs The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2rdpHtsnqySbMU from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnRfHp7n5Z2g8U, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2TXohjrtB9ebc They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aboYSMqpKFhJo; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJikqaN7paqWpNE Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4HGYYuBZdGBo7c includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2plp9_bpiJoa8 "Glory to the World" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6itpXdojaqLfpY "Winds of Transylvania" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

obud -- I totally agree. Miyako is often nicknamed "Ice Princess", because she is pretty introverted, does not smile so much and looks most of the time serious, see typically "Stand and deliver". In earlier songs she hardly moved from her position on the stage, like a statue. Since Fami became a member all ladies (with the exception of the drummer Haruna for obvious reasons) much more "walk" the stage.

Miyako began learning piano at 3 years, she is a concert pianist and has performed with at least Tokyo Philharmonic, I believe. She started learning the guitar at 18 years, and has never looked back. Today, not only does she perform with Lovebites, she is one of if not the lead composer and arranger for their music. And if the interaction between members in the video of "Stand And Deliver, Shoot'em Down" ( link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anrQeHRtmLWsqNUsi=hzxsndODKjCoH_3V , is any indication, she can probably play every instrument the Band uses, or more). Asami: the Lead singer, studied ballet for several years, unfortunately for the ballet world and fortunately for us she was injured and no longer able to pursue her goal of Ballerina. The music world should shout thank you to Heaven for that blessing. Asami is also a very capable pianist and does perform on a couple of their videos. Enjoy the linked video, it is part of their most recent album and features their new Bassist, Fami, who does a masterful job in spite of her obvious youth. Miho (will be missed, she is the original bassist and redhead and founder) (with Haruna, drums). Sorry for the messy information at the end here. And last but not least, is Midori, the other extremely talented guitarist. I have never exactly been able to determine which of them is the lead, so I have come to the conclusion that they are co-leads, or just equally skillful. I love these ladies and listen to their music often, but honestly, I most enjoy watching them perform. I would love to see them in concert, but I doubt they will ever get to Knoxville, TN.

Thanks for your reaction . LOVEBITES is a heavy metal band that mainly plays speed, thrash, power, progressive, neoclassical metal, often mixes these genres. They play classical music. Some of the band's songs contain elements of hard rock and symphonic metal. Asami (lead vocals) was a Soul, Jazz, R&B singer before LOVEBITES. 'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. 'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which Swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of Swans is amazingly beautiful. 'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together. In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' album, Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake' . During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Because the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured on video. Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in combat with weapons in their hands is a death worthy of a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Heaven, to Valhalla (the Hall of those killed in battle) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who died in battles.

Singer Asami comes from a R&B background. She found metal, when she was added to the new formed group LOVEBITES in 2016. Founder and band leader was bassist Miho together with epic drummer Haruna, both coming from Japanese group DESTROSE, dissolved in 2015. Midori and Miyako (M&M) are maybe the best dual lead on this planet, they must have spent ages in practicing harmonic play. Both play guitar (only) for 15 years now (aged 20 and 18, resp.). Miho left the band during the Covid-19 pandemic for personal reasons in August 2021, but LOVEBITES (2.0) came back with new bassist Fami during the last 12 months. (Auditions in spring 2022, finals in summer 2022, announcement in October 2022, new OMV on christmas eve 2022, album in February 2023, first live concert March 2023, first live album August 2023, first live tour in Japan September 2023 (with a live stream for the Tokyo show), final show on this Thursday ("The Last Judgement"). Next year hopefully world tour (one date is fixed: September 6th, Atlanta, US, on a prog festival). I hope, they'll repeat their Wacken W-O-A appearance of 2018!

This is The Miyako Show. How often do you see a backing track come to life? You hear the piano backing track during the chorus, and I know some reactors have wondered if there was a keyboardist behind the stage playing (which knowing this band I laugh at). Then in the end, Miyako puts down her guitar and plays the backing track live to end the song. Amazing. A masterpiece.

Class, elegance, beauty, and elite talent...that is LOVEBITES. Their catalog is very diverse from hard rock to thrash metal to ballads. Hope you'll explore more when you have the time; they are so under-rated. To think that was an 8min song...MASTERPIECE. Thank you for taking the time to react to them. 🤘

Welcome to the world of Lovebites music. This band is so awesome and beautiful. I love "Swan song" and I'm glad that that you choose this version (with Chopin intro). I love it so much. But the other songs are so cool too. You should check out more their videos. If you like "Swan song" try their live video "Frozen serenade" and if you want a harder song, try their live video "Set the world on fire". Thank you for your reaction. More Lovebites on the channel. Yes, Lovebites is a Japanese band, but Asami sings exclusively in English. Before auditioning for Lovebites Asami was an R&B singer and never sang anything metal before, she even studied R&B singing in the States. She also studied ballet well into her teens. About the dresses, a French mag interviewed Asami when they toured there and she said, "We're all girls, we don't want to dress like boys. Also, we're all small and the white and gold makes it easier to see us on stage." and the ARE small, the tallest, Miyako (guitar and piano) is 5' 2" and the drummer, Haruna, is the shortest at only 4' 9" The members are: Miyako: "The Golden Touch" (guitar & piano) Haruna: "Little Big Engine" (drums) Miho: "Natural Born Headbanger" (bass, no longer with the band) Midori: "Crazy Shredder" (blond guitarist) Asami: "The One and Only Voice" (singer) Miho left the band (amicably) in 2021 after her father passed away. Lovebites took a hiatus had a worldwide audition for bass players and found their new bassist, Fami. As a warning, the Japanese metal scene is a DEEP rabbit hole but you will find some of the most talented musicians in the world! Wait till you find: Band Maid Nemophila MAXIMUM THE HORMONE Unlucky Morpheus Hanabie Babymetal DOLL$BOXX Wagakki Band they play rock music with both western instruments and traditional Japanese instruments. IRONBUNNY Li-Sa-x Band Li-Sa-X is a legit child prodigy. You can find vids of her at 8 years old playing amazing guitar solos. If you feel like taking a trip to India check out Bloodywood.

Oh, I forgot: A more recent song with the new bassist Fami is "Hammer of Wrath" (live). A must for Lovebites fans. I also like "Stand and deliver". The mv looks "private", because they wear their normal leisure time clothes and goofy around interchanging their instruments (Midori became the lead singer, Asami a guitarist, etc.). It goes without saying, that Miyako is great also at the drums 😍

Well, my dear, you’ve just witnessed greatness. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. Yes, many people say that they look effortless and flawless in their live performances. Their live performances are outstanding. Some people say that they’re redefining metal. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist and founder of the band) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. They have many influences from legendary rock and metal bands of the past but they have been developing their unique style. If you want to react to something heavy I suggest “Hammer of wrath” (2023 version), “Set the world on fire”, “Judgement day”, or for something different: “Edge of the world”, “A Frozen serenade”, “Epilogue” (all live)

Congratulations, you have discovered the pot of gold at the end of the musical rainbow. There is no other band in the history of popular music anything like LOVEBITES (The name is capitalised and that is how the band and their label always write it). I discovered them nearly three years ago and they took over my life. The “classical” voice you hear is really old school metal, from a time when vocalists like Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson and others sang, long before it became the norm for metal singers to sound like animals. Band founder Miho wanted to put together a band that had a sound reminiscent of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal that became a popular form of metal in the early 80’s..the same genre that inspired Lars Ulrich of Metallica. She heard a demo tape of Asami-san, the singer who you just heard, and knew she was what she was looking for. Asami-san herself wasn’t a metal singer. She was what Japanese call a chorus (backing) singer, and her style is described as RnB, Jazz or Lounge Singer. Miyako-san, the prodigy who trained as a classical pianist before teaching herself guitar…with a few lessons later has recently reiterated that it was Asami-san’s voice that convinced her to join Lovebites when approached by Miho. You picked up very quickly that Asami-san has a unique but very mesmeric stage presence. As a former ballerina, who was told she would never succeed in ballet because she is so small, she uses her ballet training as well as her inherent good nature, humour and verve to control an audience with her left arm, always gracefully, some (myself included) would say majestically…or regally. There are two live recordings of Swansong, the second does not have a piano introduction because the studio original doesn’t either. And yes, it’s the last song on the Electric Pentagram album. In both versions Asami-san imitates the dying swan from Swan Lake, which usually goes unnoticed because of the piano outro (which is from the original version) In my personal opinion, taking into consideration every aspect of the band, musically, lyrically, artistically and in terms of the genuinely warm and appreciative demeanour of the band members, they are the best thing ever to grace the music industry. And I don’t mean just Japanese rock, or metal in general, or recently. I mean they are the best band I, at age 63, have ever had the pleasure of hearing and seeing live. I say that to every new reactor and I mean it literally.

Thank you for your reaction to LOVEBITES. LOVEBITES has about 60 songs. Please keep up the good work LOVEBITES. LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015. The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP". On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER. On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full. "Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated. On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry. LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018. Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name. I participated in "dowload Festival 2019(June 15)". And Asami of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm Download Festival UK 2019, singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's "Love Bites" again after Japan. LOVEBITES join DragonForce on UK tour 2019(Nov. 2-14). On 2 December 2019, LOVEBITES was the support act for the Tokyo leg of Halestorm's Japan tour. Asami(Vo) Miyako(G - Key ‐ Piano Black hair) Midori(G) Haruna(Dr) Miho(Ba) First Bassist Bassist of this song New bassist from 'JUDGEMENT DAY' songs. Fami(Ba) New Bassist On 17 August 2021, LOVEBITES took an extended break after the departure of their leader, bassist Miho. The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba). Fami is a five-string bassist who can dance, sing and play and has 678,000 KZbin subscribers. You will be amazed by new bassist Fami's slapping and fast finger picking. Asami(Vo) has been studying classical ballet from the age of 2 to 18. Asami (Vo) was originally an R&B and soul singer. She had never listened to metal music at all, which she says was "music from another dimension. Discover another of Asami's talents, having moved on from R&B and soul. You can then check Asami's wide-range belt from low to high frequencies. I have always felt that Asami is both a vocalist and an actress. Asami can sing in a variety of ways depending on the song. She has a wide range of belts from low to high(e5), and is able to perform them with certainty. P.S. Asami played the dying swan before the ending.

Miyako played Roland's white electronic piano for the first time in this live performance. She later said, "This piano was very difficult to play, so I had a lot of trouble. It seems that it was not a satisfactory performance for her. (Sounds great enough for me😅) And the next year when they performed live, they replaced it with a real grand piano, but the sound is still much better. It is more expressive of emotional ups and downs and has a different dimension than an electronic piano. You can find it by searching "Swan Song (Heavy Metal Never Dies - Tokyo Dome City Hall 2021)" on KZbin, so be sure to check it out. However, there is no intro in this performance.

The Chopin piece was his Revolutionary Etude, about the invasion of his native Poland, from which the lyrics were inspired. The lead singer, Asami, studied ballet and was a R&B singer prior to joining Lovebites, and she was chosen, in part, because she wasn't a 'metal vocalist'. Structure-wise, this song is a bit atypical for them, though certainly not outside their norm, as they don't fit neatly into any specific metal sub-genre. I would suggest The Hammer of Wrath from their 2023 return to performing (due to bassist leaving and covid) after a 2 year absence (can be found on their official channel).

I know that the usual term for this kind of music is "power metal". Nethertheless imo it's to unspecific for Lovebites. I prefer the term "heroic metal". The have quite a few songs about this topic, e.g. "Soldier stand alone", "Judgement Day", "Glory to the World" etc. A fun song is "Burden of Time" (Studio Live - due to the pandemic). At 3:15 Miyako plays keyboard with her write hand, while she continues to play guitar with her left hand (!). Wow.

The Chopin Etude is difficult to play because it is very left-handed dominate. Also Miyako is playing it from memory! This piece is used by many piano teachers to exercise their students left-hand. FYI, Miyako has never taken a guitar lesson and picked up the guitar when she 18. Piano started when she was 3 yo, not unusual in Japan. Miyako also composed and arranged the music, lyrics are by Asami, vocals.

They look very chilled on this one because Swan Song is considered a (power) ballad from their standards ahahah! If you wanna check a more dynamic song, you can react to "Raise Some Hell" or the most viewed song "Holy War" from Lovebites. And yes, all the songs of Lovebites are only sung in english except for one of their very first songs in their first mini album (Bravehearted, The Lovebites EP). Those women might be all japanese but technically speaking, they strictly do only western thrash/power metal. Asami's vocals are more "classical" because she's actually not a metal singer in the most basic definition. She comes from a Soul and R&B background (You should check her cover of Alicia Keys 'If I ain't got you', kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmK5kKZmm896pdE ) before joining Lovebites (Rest of the band are genuine metalheads though) and she performed ballet for about 16 years hence why her stage presence is reminiscent of a ballerina with her gentle and gracious gestures. Miyako's main instrument, although being a metalcore/visual kei guitar artist in her previous band, is actually the piano since she played it since she was 3. She only started playing guitar in high school so that's why her piano mastery over guitar is actually better.

Thanks so much for the introduction to LOVEBITES. You always do such a great job. I certainly can appreciate the skills of all band members. This particular song became somewhat monotonous for me. I'm afraid they have not, at least with this song, have not unseated The Warning or Nightwish as the two best band in the world. BTW the milk a Pepsi was great, even as an adult beverage.

Yeah the music is so cool! I definitely need to listen to more and see what else they can do! We all have a soft spot for our favs, so I totally understand. And yay, glad you liked it! Hahaha Melted milkshake right?!

When it comes to BAND-MAID and LOVEBITES, it's probably NEMOPHILA or HANABIE. NEMOPHILA or HANABIE's vocals use either scream voice or clean voice. I recommend her debut song.
