Stop No. 7 on the 2016 Bassmaster Elite Series tournament trail takes the bass fishing anglers to New York's Lake Cayuga. Greg Hackney's Day 1 catch is disqualified after he fished in an off-limits area, but he continues to fish on Day 2.

This is one of the most underrated bass fisheries in the entire country. I live about 1 1/2 hours away from Cayuga and I try to make the trip as much as possible even though I live closer to other great bass fisheries. It's just a fantastic place.

You can however set up a system of commonly understood legislative agreements and societal standards to make sure people aren’t abusing resources. While Hackney isn’t actively attempting to abuse a resource he broke the law. The got Palaniuk in MN/ WI for an old law. No one owns that water it was just the previously agreed upon statute (which has since changed)... this is how life works.

I love how BASS sets a policy for the rule and stays with that policy on this. I feel like a lot of people want Hackney to get a pass because he's doing so well, but had he been in 50th in AOY no one would care. BASS definitely stuck to their policies and that's the right way to do it.

Erik Gaffron dude bass has nothing to do with the law! It a law and they had no choice but to DQ him. They did the same thing To Brandon P. Last year for culling a fish in state that doesn't allow culling! How dumb is that?!!

I was talking about the people who don't think bass should stick to their policy about breaking state laws and wanting to bend it for Hackney because it because it's a dumb law. Regardless BASS stuck to a policy about breaking laws during tournament competition, which no one should complain about. Hackney doesn't get a break just cuz he is Hack Attack. And it WAS a dumb law. I live in that state that that law appeared when Pahlaniuk was DQ'd (Minnesota) . It's not the entire state that is no cull either. It was JUST that section of the Mississippi which in years past had a dual state law governing that body of water that did not allow culling (thanks old Wisconsin DNR). When Wisconsin finally got rid of their No Cull law statewide, the Minnesota side of the previosly dual sided river law wasn't immediately repealed. So it's a dumb law yes, but because it was a dumb law it is a law that no longer exists.
