Took me a minute but I finally figured out it was Robert Conrad. A lot younger and slimmer. Thank you Western Mania, my dad would have loved to be able to pick what Westerns he wanted to see like Bat Masterson he was a western mania himself. Wish I had gotten a laptop before we lost him.

Yes. William Conrad. Great actor and voice talent. He played Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke. His voice can be heard in many places. He also did the opening narration for the Buck Rogers TV show.

I remember this tv series as a kid. I saw it mentioned somewhere else and I had to go on KZbin to track it down. Bat Masterson was a real person from the wild west who, along with Wyatt Earp tamed the west and brought some semblance of law and order with it. I'm sure the kids of today have no idea about our country's wild west, nor do they care. They just want what they want. Please forgive me, all of you true young history students who really care to save our American Heritage. If you are one of those people, I have to excuse myself and give you the credit due to your endeavors regarding our American History. Carry on and keep the true faith. God bless you all who do.

The theme song singer is baritone Bill Lee, who was a member of the Mellomen (Thurl Ravenscroft's group). Lee and the Mellomen did a lot of studio work, especially for Disney. Lee also sang the theme song for the TV series "Tombstone Territory." He's mostly heard today as the dubbed-in singing voice for Christopher Plummer in "The Sound of Music" (i.e. "Edleweiss").

Short for Bartholomew. You know he was a real person... right? Bartholomew William Barclay "Bat" Masterson was a U.S. Army scout, lawman, professional gambler, and journalist known for his exploits in the 19th-century American Old West. Born to a working-class Irish family in Quebec, Masterson moved to the Western frontier as a young man and quickly distinguished himself as a buffalo hunter, civilian scout, and Indian fighter on the Great Plains. He later earned fame as a gunfighter and sheriff in Dodge City, Kansas, during which time he was involved in several notable shootouts.Wikipedia Born:Nov 26, 1853, Henryville, Montérégie, Quebec, Canada East Died:Oct 25, 1921, New York City, New York, United States Resting place:Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, New York
