The RFS does an amazing job, it was a huge op to save the town, as the fire came so close to the suburbs

That was a great video. So nice to see the community getting around the "refugees" Im in the rfs and our brigade were shown similar generosity from many people. Random hugs, food, drinks etc. Very heart warming in trying times. Society is really very good, we mostly get shown the negatives.

I was caught south at Narooma evacuation centre. Then on the way back up when the roads opened 2 days later, had to go to Batmans Bay and seen the damage there. Your story tells it like it was. Even the car ride back home is spot on! We had no electricity, food, wifi, and limited petrol.

Home safe and well, Our friends now have a gas bottle to cook on the BBQ and have rigged up a way to get water from their tanks. so looking a little better now.

Hi my name is Imogen And I was in the fires as well and I had to get evacuated and we had to go to the beach in one of the big aeroplanes have to come and talk to fire retardant all over and save the resort

some kids (aged 8-10?) told me their friends (presumably other kids) lit the fire near the Evacuation Centre (Corrigans Beach). They told me this as I was boiling water on the embers of the fire out the back of my place (no power).

Hello Paul, yes, we had to put water in buckets from the dam on the spot fires at our friends' place as there was no power or running water (they're on tank water). It's amazing how many of the fires this season have been deliberately lit by arsonists, including kids.

It was definitely a spot fire. I'm a rfs fire fighter who was holidaying at the caravan park in batehaven. We had embers falling in the bushland between the beach and park. At 3:14 that fireman is actually me.

Arsonists are the major problem in fire 'season,. Then the news reports go on about 'climate change', and starting to call them 'weather events'. Give us a break,

Awesome video. I'm a rfs firefighter and I was on holidays at the batehaven caravan park. When that fire broke out behind the evacuation centre there was a group of people in the middle of it. 2 of them couldn't find their way out as the smoke started to disorientat them. I ended up going in a getting them out. 1 of them didn't even have shoes on. Check out my wife's video she did from the caravan park . Search "Corinne Wayenberg, new years fire "
