Hello..I replaced the battery in my truck and now my remote starter won’t work. The doors will lock and unlock,but will not start the vehicle..I tried your method but it still doesn’t work unless I place the key in the ignition (without turning)..Is there anything else I can try?

That’s not true I had a O2 sensor and a gas cap code on my CRV and remote start was working fine

Not on all vehicles I had a Sebring Chrysler with the check engine light on for years !! Start with the remote start every time...

I think that applies more so with factory installed systems. My daughter la equinox would not remote start when she had a check engine light. But I don’t think aftermarket systems apply that same logic.

Thank you very much for the tip. I got a new battery in my car,when the car came back the remote start wouldn't start. They charged me to try and fix it, then they couldn't fix it and sent me on my way. A two minute KZbin video was the answer. Thank you again!

7 years later and you're still helping people with your video! I changed my battery recently and my aftermarket 3x auto start system went into valet mode. I tried a bunch of stuff (that didnt' work), found your video, did the "5x turn key to start and hit your lock button..." and it worked flawlessly. Thank you!

A big thanks to you !! I went to the dealership to check why it wasn't working. My key fob they told me I have to buy a new fob and download the app. which I did, and then I have to accept master data. I declined. After i read the privacy concerns, I didn't believe what they said. I did not give up. I saw your video, and it was the first instructions you mentioned by pressing the two bottoms. I can’t thank you enough for this video. My Jeep must’ve been in valet mode this whole time. I hit the two buttons like you said and then pushed the remote start button and it started right up. I took it in to have the thermostat replaced shortly after I purchased it and ever since then the remote start hasn’t worked. The mechanic must’ve put it in valet mode to work on it and forgot to reset it. I didn’t even know valet mode was a thing. Thank so much! 🙏👍

HOLY COW, it worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH, have been trying to do something about this for several months as I knew the cold was coming....they wanted over $200 locally to "fix" it. I have a Code-Alarm CATX4, the guy at the Batteries Plus store told me I could buy a new one and reprogram. I went ahead and bought a new fob, but thought I'd try this first and it worked. I had to do it a couple of times, but realize my battery is pretty low now. I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. THANK YOU AGAIN!

Some of these newer compustar remotes after you turn the key on and off 5 times you have to tap the lock button once very quickly. This worked for me when I got nothing. Excellent video

I heard that going from off to on 5x in a Dodge Ram will clear the CEL. Shortly afterwards, I was baffled why my truck wasn’t remote starting anymore. After watching this, I immediately knew what the problem was, thanks for the help!

You’re a life saver bud!! Somehow my 2011 Rav4 went into valet mode (probably my kids)... i tried the trunk n lock button but didn’t work.. tried lock+unlock and it worked! I have a little thing behind my rear view mirror that talks to the remote.. it had a solid blue light since the car stopped started (remotely).. as soon as I pressed lock+unlock, the blue light went away n all was well! Thank you. Pressing the Lock & Trunk button at the same time fixed it. It was one of the 2 things you said would stop it from starting. It's my moth-in-laws car and she didn't use the R S all Summer plus she has lots of keys on her chain so who knows which one caused it. Thanks again, your the Boss.

No car here, sorry.. i was just curious on how to solve this problem coz, currently im working in a gas station and, this is the common problem for automatic cars, we have protocols on turning them off before fueling, so sometimes this issues happens inevitable.. Im looking forward on doing this in-hand, but im not wishing that it would happen intentionally coz customers don't like waiting, they have their own life.. A check engine light can disable a remote starter as well, so if the check engine light comes back, and remote start stops working that could be the cause as well.

+Ross B (Rossco) I just wanted to follow up on my remote starter. I had the guys from Best buy look at it.It turned out that the transponder box had fallen away from the ignition switch. The original installers justused electrical tape to hold it in place. He zip tied it and all is good. Thanks again for your input.Mark
