I cut my labs nail too short the other day (only by a little bit it only had a little drop of blood at the end and stopped in seconds!) He didn't even react lol 😂 With black nails if you take little bit at a time until you see a little black dot in the middle of the nail then stop cutting because it's close to the vein . That's how I've always managed it 👍

It’s so relaxing to watch you both with Herky and Milton. My Cavalier Nelson is taking a nap snuggled next to me, otherwise he’d be looking back and forth from the iPad to me with his cute little frowny face ,”I can’t believe you’re looking at another dog, when I’m right here!!” He’s 11 y.o. now and gets a little possessive. I find that as a dog groomer some dogs are very nervous when coming in with their owners but end up being fine 👍 there's one dog I do and she's lovely but very nervous when owner brings her in every time but as soon as I begin brushing her and bathing her she calms down and enjoys her groom .

How do you do two at once? I have three Cavaliers. Especially my Blenheim would jump out and run away while I was washing the other one. I do the dogs one at a time in the shower.

You are so lucky to have both girls standing quietly in the tub. I have to bathe my dog in the laundry tub with the straps and suction cups to keep her in place, and still she is fighting to get out. As for the nails forget it I have to take her to the groomers. A good tip for dogs with furry paws is to put a mesh onion bag over them and the nail sticks through whilst holding the fur back so you can see the nail easier (not that I can use that tip lol). Your dogs are gorgeous I love watching them

Good timing! It was my ruby boy Riley’s bath day today. I followed your advice on playing relaxing spa music and holding your cavi on your lap while blow drying. I tried that and it worked a lot better. He was a lot calmer and less trying to get away from the dryer. I almost got his ears dried. A first! Love your channel. Glad you are coming home. Your girls are so cute

The girls were so good about their baths. I love how fresh and clean Serafina smells for a few days after her bath. She’s good about having her claws clipped too. Her sister was always a little nervous about it though. I only clipped a little too close to the quick once. There is a product by Four Paws called Quick Blood Stopper Styptic Powder available at Petco for use when that happens. I’ve also heard that you can use a little dry cornstarch in a pinch if you don’t have a styptic stick available. Of course I’d check with a vet before using it. Thanks for the video. ❤️🐶🐾

Lavender is a good choice! ❤️ It’s a natural flea wash, but also calms the skin. People used it in the day before all the flea protection products.

p.s. using the nozzle attachments for a hair dryer will be more efficient bc it’s directed airflow. I’m sure they hate the blow dryer (like my dogs lol) so having the nozzle helps to dry them quicker and keeps air from blowing everywhere rather than just in one specific spot (less chaotic for them). ♥️

I have a question about using fragrant shampoos. My dogs always seemed to want to roll in grass or whatever directly after getting out of the bath. It seemed like they were trying to get the smell off of them. I wonder if the smell that we find pleasing is just overwhelming for them. Their noses are like 5000x more powerful than ours. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Invest in a container of styptic powder, flour works in a pinch also.

Dry cornstarch is great, if you hit the quick of your fur babies nails. It will clot the bleeding. You guys Cavs are gorgeous!!!

I'm currently studying a course in Animal Care and we are told to never wash the dogs heads as it is too risky. Putting shampoo on their heads means you obviously have to wash it off with water. If you didn't know this, if water goes down a dog's nose they can choke and saddly die. I personally wouldn't do it but it's really you're own decision

You have to watch Cavi’s faces or the fur will get matted and tangled a tip is to just make sure that you do not get any water near the eyes or nose - coming from a Cavi owner

Herky The Cavalier, there are even styptic powders or gels that contain anesthetic. I've found some at chain pet stores, and they work great.

i used the tropiclean lavish pet products when i was a bather and it is absolutely amazing with very few ingredients as of recently i couldn’t find it at my local grooming supply store apparently they stopped carrying it and with my grooming training put on hold to focus on my mental health i haven’t gotten around to buying the products to use on my mom’s and sister’s dogs at home since my trainer wouldn’t let me take the ones i had already with me during shutdown even though i paid for them
