Bathing in a Mud Volcano in south Trinidad | Bunsee Trace Mud Volcano

One of the 3 major mud volcanoes in Trinidad, L’Eau Michel Mud volcano is the most popular one to visit, simply because you can dive in and experience a floating sensation. You’ll have to drive/hike through agricultural lands, then a Teak (tree) forest along a gravel/dirt/muddy road to enjoy this natural phenomenon located in Bunsee Trace, off Penal Rock Road in south Trinidad…..Well my Trinbago peeps, lets go…
TIP 1: The volcano, towards the center is deep, regardless of the buoyancy of the main pool, so stay close to the edges of the mud pool.
TIP 2: Bring enough water if you have no intentions of hiking 30-45 minutes to the beach to wash off the mud.
TIP 3: Monitor the weather because this can change the conditions of the road
Tip 4: Be prepared to walk/hike between 1-2km if your vehicle can’t go any further on the road and Park appropriately if this is the case.
Tip 5: There is no restroom facilities, so be prepared to go “in the bush” if you need to go.
TIP 6: Whatever you bring to the mud volcano site, take it back with you. Leave only your memories behind, as no one cleans up the site on a regular basis

It’s open to the public, just visit when it hasn’t rained in awhile, the dirt road will be hard and you can drive straight up to the mud volcano, however if there was rain then you would only be able to drive up to a certain point and have to walk, unless you have a 4x4

I won’t lie I was abit worried but it’s very buoyant, so it keeps you afloat and you can still stay close to the edge if you want as to ease your fright of feet touching the ground

Yes you can....it’s open to the public....just google map Bunsee trace and drive to the end.... once it hasn’t rain, you’ll be able to drive straight up to the mud volcano... otherwise it’s a 15-30 minutes walk
