I can't understand why dogs are straight into a river but getting them into a bath is a major exercise.

Because water in river is never totally clean, so they can judge how deep it is. Also usually rivers have banks that go gradually deeper and deeper, so they can choose at what water level they feel best and is easy to go in or out of water (compare to pool or tub). On the contrary in water tubs (or human pools) is hard for them to see how deep it is, because of how the water reflects light and is totally see-through. Plus, as Key so nicely demonstrated :-D, tubs surfaces are pretty slippery and harder to stand on, so they avoid it if they can.

I had a husky and a malamute at the same time with another mix. They were all 3 buddies! The husky and malamute talked! It was hilarious! Well, until they howled in there back yard...the neighbors loved it and called them my singing dogs! I told them that it was not singing, my husky sounded like a woman being beaten or something so high pitched, I swear, it would pierce your ears!! Lol! All 3 lived very happy and healthy lives! I swear, as adorable as these pets are, it’s not just their cuteness that make these kinds of KZbin videos so entertaining; the subtitles these owners come up with on the pets behalf are friggin hysterical. Huskies have like 5 layers of fur before you find the layer that protects the skin. You'd have to rub his fluff backward while pouring water just to get the skin wet.

Let's me get them in sections and turning pressure on low and getting the head close doesn't bother them a whole lot.

Key is such an amazing boy. My own bordercollie named Zorro passed away this august at the age of 17. I've been really sad and heartbroken over losing him but Key reminds me of him a lot and watching these videos is helping me cope with the loss. Now all we need is after bath zoomies. 😂 Whenever we bathed our old dog, she absolutely hated it too, she would run through the house. She would rub herself against all the carpets, all her blankets, her bed and anything that would make the water come off. It was quite entertaining to watch because she'd come from the other end of the living room and dive headfirst into her blankets without slowing down, sliding several meters across the floor if we didn't hold on to the blanket. She would continue to do so until she was exhausted. 😂

I once had an afghan that I used to show in the conformation ring. Bath time was something he came to take in stride. I remember a time I used a hot oil treatment to enhance his coat. It meant that he had to sit in the empty tub for 10 minutes completely wrapped around in towels. He endured it patiently like a champ. But I can still see the look on his face as he stared at me with such woeful misery in his eyes. I never put him through that a second time. That dog was dear to my heart and I was blessed that he lived a very long time.
