For a lot of people it’s their job! Sometimes you just gotta do it. I used to be a huge germaphobe too. I’d helped my mom around the house, but just dusting or vacuuming. Never the bathrooms. Then I got put in a situation where I needed a job immediately and the only one I could find was at a cleaning company. My very first day working at a cleaning company, at the very first job, I was told to go cleaning the bathrooms. I nervously walked into the women’s room, and it was a war zone. Filth everywhere, all five toilets where caked in brown stains, two of them where clogged completely. I ran out of there and looked in the men’s room, it was even worse. I went to the supervisor and said I can’t do this I need to vacuum or something and she laughed and said I better do it, or I’d be walking home without a job. I had no choice. I went back into the women’s room, put on a mask and gloves, and got to work. I can still remember what it looked smelled and felt like cleaning every toilet. I actually vomited in the men’s room cleaning one of the urinals. The drain had been clogged with a mixture of chewed gum, cigarette butts, hair, and some kind of unidentifiable slime. I had to reach in with my hand to dig it out and even through the glove it was completely disgusting and the smell was unbearable. After about two hours, I finally finished though, we packed the van, and upon arriving at the next job, I was again put on bathroom duty. Over the next 3 years I would be cleaning bathrooms every single day, all day long. They weren’t all as bad as the first, but many where, but as time went on I slowly started to realize it bothered me less and less. It wasn’t as mentally difficult to get through, and just in general I stopped being grossed out by things as much. I work a different job now, but I wouldn’t call myself a germaphobe anymore. I’m definitely a bit more of a clean freak than the average person, but I’m not fearful of dirty things like I used to be. I guess the whole point to my story is, maybe try cleaning your room sometime? Eventually your bathroom? Im not saying it’s a cure to germaphobia or anything, but it might help your mind calm down a bit and not be bothered by germs as much.

a tip for those who like to clean: do not use bleach on your dyed furniture. it fades the dye over time. use white vinegar instead. works just as well

How do you girls know which cleaner is safe to use together?! My mom mixed cleaner in a steam cleaner on the carpet when I was young and ended up in the hospital! Never mix bleach and ammonia. But to be safe just stick to one cleaner or if you want to use two finish the job with one before using the other. A lot of these vids use a bunch of cleaners for the aesthetic when it’s really not necessary.

please look up VOCs. Volatile Organic Compounds. It's dangerous to mix chemical on top of chemical. Pick a spray, a scrub, a liquid. Use one at a time. You can pass out from fumes. I speak from experience.

That toilet was nasty! Here's a better way to do it: First: pour a bucket of water in it to flush out water. this will allow you to get most of the toilet bowl surface covered with a thick cling toilet bowl cleaner. Let it sit for about 5 minutes,then scrub, scub,scrub with a brush. Second: now that it's not so germy, flush the toilet,and again, pour another bucket of water inside to empty. While bowl is empty pour CLR to remove calcium and lime deposits. Scub with a green scouring pad until it's foamy. NOW it's time to bring out the pumice stick and go over the really thick build up. Third: Flush. In a slightly bad bathroom, this should be enough. If it's worse than the one in this video,then do step 2 until it is perfectly clean a few more times.
