As someone who worked in paint for years this video gives me anxiety. You can't just throw house paint on counter tops, sink basins, and tiles. I don't think it makes it any less aggravating or problematic (to me, personally), nor no longer worth pointing out. Not because it's a bad job, but that this careless job happened the way it did: all the painting, spraying, stripping, repainting, respraying, restripping. I got a headache just seeing that overspray and seeing the solvents. Knowing its due to brain trauma just makes me sad that there isn't someone looking out for her on this. As someone who handles a lot of solvents and aerosols I know that shit can cause headaches, burns, and complications later in life. She absolutely to exposed herself to the toxic substances in the sprays and thinners she used. I saw no gloves or dropcloths, so with her impulsivity I doubt that safety measures were even an afterthought. :(

My old mother used to paint the shower tiles a new color since she’d change the bathroom up a lot, but she never once painted the countertops. Me, being a child, pointed the shower head towards the wall at all times because I was like 4 foot. I am always wondering why Americans keep "refinishing" countertops with resins and paint. A completely new one shouldnt be that more expensive than hours and hours of work with a miserable outcome?
@eminakostic34063 жыл бұрын
It could actually be more expensive, but the main reason people seem to do resin is they want the kudos I think.
@judithsixkiller55863 жыл бұрын
The expense and hassle of kitchen and bathrooms in the US is usually far more expensive than it should be. And the damned HGTV shows and Interior Design magazines make it all look so pretty and sound soooo damned easy. ( HEARTLESS LIARS!) Just buy some contact paper for those countertops. If you hate the results it's a cheap and easy fix.
@eminakostic34063 жыл бұрын
@@judithsixkiller5586 I’ve heard horror stories about contact paper too. Apparently it doesn’t come off as easy as they say but idk I’ve never done it personally. The beauty of DIY shows and tiktoks is they make it seem really easy and possible and affordable but the reality is you need at least SOME level of DIY experience before you can even THINK of attempting some of these and most people on tiktok don’t even have the experience to know that they DONT have the experience.

@@eminakostic3406 I've never seen contact paper that wouldn't come off of a smooth laminate surface if heated up with a blow dryer on high, or at the very worst with some nail polish remover under the edge or paint thinner and a scraper tool.The expensive heavy duty vinyl wallpaper is definitely best left to the pro's. yo, I showed this to my dad who does Bathrooms renovations as a job and he thinks that the lady renovating her bathroom as "nuts", was horrified with the countertop green colour with the thick paint and called it mould, said that mixing all the different acetone must made the bathroom smell sharply acidic and considering that the white paint started to flake, it probably reacted to the acetone that was probably left over because I don't think she probably washed it. plus, he really liked your vid saying you "presented well" :)

I would recommend people watch Swell Entertainment's video on Grace too! Amanda (from SE) interviews her and Grace explains about how she got injured and has damage to the part of her brain that deals with impulses and because of that, she can't control impulses and that's kinda how the DIY started and carried on despite the setbacks. It's just nice to know the context and background sometimes 😊 (this is a shortened version of what was talked about, I would recommend watching the whole video)oh and also Grace didn't want to 'give in' (idk what the right words are), to the people commenting about getting professionals and she couldn't do it herself, so that's also partly why Grace carried on with it herself :)
