The story was painted like a horror movie you'd see on TV at 3am. Casey is a hideous night creature that takes the form of the husband's deceased daughter. Every night she tries to take the new wife's hand and drag her away, so she has to lock the door at night. But even then, she can still hear "Casey" waiting by the door. Instead we got this depressing story where a little kid can't bond with her stepmother because said stepmom is jealous of a toddler and treats her like a cryptid. EDIT: Just saw the absolutely wild U-turn of an ending and I'm creasing.

I mean, it's honestly fitting that you guys had that whole discussion about what qualifies as a fairy tale, because I feel like these stories operate on fairy tale logic: The bad guys are cartoonishly evil, every decision the characters make has to be the most dramatic decision possible, and the wonky logic that the story uses to get to its goals is less important than getting to those goals in order to impart whatever moral they want. I guess it's at least a good thing that they provide the disclaimer about this all being fictional at the end, because there are hundreds of these "Animated True Stories" accounts that don't do that.

I think the "nose shriking" is meant to represent that her nose wasn't actually that big it was just a projection of insincerity. But the message of the story is still "it doesn't matter if you are ugly, unless you look like Seth"

I'm pretty sure her nose shrinking at 13:02 implies that she only saw it as so Pinocchio-esque because her husband talked down to her. And when she 'found confidence' we saw what it really looked like. But I blame the abysmally bad animation for that not being clear, so much weird crap happens in these videos.

I mean it's a fairytale in the same way Dracula is Snow White and Lovecraft is Cinderella lol? I'm pretty sure when Danny said it isn't a fairytale because it's a horror, he didn't mean "its too dark", he meant the tropes and genre markings of horror are different to fairytales, ie, Fairytales are usually stories passed on verbally, not written into an official canon, and they tend to have a moral/message, whereas horror usually doesn't.

There was an old Avengers comic in which Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel then, now known as Captain Marvel) went through a similar scenario, but maybe a little weirder and more convoluted. It's commonly regarded as the worst Avengers story and it's kind of hard to explain, but basically, she gave birth to the guy who sexually assaulted her without her knowing after a three-day pregnancy and her 'son' continued to rapidly age (this happened after she had a conversation with Scarlet Witch about her frustrations with not being able to have a child, so I wonder if maybe WandaVision took inspiration from this story, of all things). Within hours, the kid is capable of speech, names himself 'Marcus', and asks for materials to build some machine (which they comply with). The Avengers pretty much gaslit Carol into seeing the birth as a miracle, even as she's clearly shaken by things and experiencing postpartum depression. She gets over it off-panel and eventually, her son is a full-grown man who she suddenly finds herself attracted to. Eventually, it's revealed that Marcus was the son of Kang the Conqueror (people who'd watched Loki's finale might be sort of familiar) and had to impregnate someone with himself so he could escape limbo after his dad died or whatever. Marcus had gotten help from several historical figures to woo Carol, but ended up just brainwashing her in the end, so it definitely wasn't consensual. He ends up having to return to limbo because his machine was destroyed and his only other option is to just die, so Carol takes pity on him and leaves with him for some reason. And the Avengers let her. For some reason.

Danny singing the Phantom of the Opera was quite literally the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. It made me laugh out loud, which I almost never do when watching KZbin

I agree with everyone saying the nose story was probably actually about her own self-perception and when she rid herself of that husband who was always bringing attention to her nose and making her feel terrible about it she was able to see herself for how she truly was the whole time. The only problem is that it’s reminiscent of those stories were the lesson is supposed to be self love but they get rid of the character’s “undesirable” quality by the end so it accidentally makes the message the complete opposite 🤦♀️ I think that’s the reason for Danny and Chad chad’s confusion

exactly, reminds me of a thing i saw where a princess was once "beautiful" and she became "ugly" but the prince still loved her anyway. only their interpretation of being ugly, dirty, and deformed was her becoming black lmao

The step mom story is like an American Psycho pov, where the main character is actually the antagonist.
@solaridastoobid2 жыл бұрын
The main character is still the protagonist, but protagonists can be villains. Not always the good guy

Technically the mom is the protagonist since she's the character that we're following who has an arc and drives the plot forward, but she is the villain.
