Holy shit. Having been in the this field for 30 years i can honestly say you nailed it with this short video. If you only watch one video this is it. Well done.

you speak a lot of truth. I think a lot of guys getting into bathrooms now do it for the wrong reasons and don't have this level of experience to humble them. Running a business is a chess game against more than yourself. Yes, generally we are our own biggest obstacle but people don't realize, there's homeowners out there looking to take advantage of you, other businesses and contractors looking to do the same, taxes and other business expenses. The strong survive is no joke. You have to be smart and learn from mistakes. So many bite off more than they can chew early on

That’s very true! Saying no is way more important skill than saying yes 😆

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher ohhhh yeah. took me a long time to learn that but I think that come with reading those red flags but also being confident that you can keep yourself afloat and not be too needed on every lead. learning to fish for leads and read them has been the biggest skill I learned after learning the trades and basic business

I started doing showers. I tell them I supply everything you don’t see. And your supply what you do see. Example. I buy sheet rock, mortar, membrane, any plumbing pipes….etc. The stuff you don’t see. Then they buy tile grout caulk vanity tp holder paint etc etc.

As always, BRTs words are worth of gold. Especially if you follow the channel and start putting pieces of information together as a priceless puzzle. Not to mention Steve's DIY Geek Membership allowing one-on-one consulting/coaching. One of very few channels that selflessly shares REAL LIFE work situations (a pro speaking here). Clicking a SUBSCRIBE button absolutely worth it.

Great video man. Ive been a one man bathroom remodeler for the past 5 years, and all your points are quite accurate.

Great video! What I do for pricing here in Canada is I use the Home Depot portal to pick out all the materials and supplies, this allows the home owners to view and purchase whatever I put in the shopping cart, I then charge for labour only, most guys in my area charge between $700 - $1,000 per day and that gets you a tile setter and a labourer some times two labourers for 8 hours of work. So for example, a two week job for me would be $100 per hour or $800 per day for 10 days I would charge $8,000 labour only.

I've only did one bathroom (my own) and i bet I've watched DAYSSSS worth of your content to prepare and do it. Even though I never plan on doing this as a business, this information is phenomenal! I mean its not everyday that a business owner would lay all their "methods" bare. You are my kinda feller ans thank you

Thank you for sharing. The content is great and very informative. We are doing our first bathroom remodel (demo, prep and tiling) and its taking a whole lot longer than we had estimated however we find it very fulfilling and would like to focus on bathroom remodels from here on out. Fingers crossed we can get the grouting done by end of this week.

This answers a lot of the questions I am still asking my self and other contractors as I am starting out on my own. The van vs truck, bidding, the tub up the stairs😂which I’ve done myself without a dolly and it’s not a great idea. Bidding is my biggest challenge. I bid low to get the jobs and potentially learn while I am remodeling someone’s bathroom which isn’t a great idea but what else ya gonna do. They get a deal Anyway. Also tired of underbidding and working myself to death only To look at the job afterward and realize my work is good and I should have made more. Word of mouth when you do good work is crazy. Can get too busy if you know what your doing. I’m almost there. Just developing a system so I can get em done faster and better.
@BathroomRemodelingTeacherАй бұрын
👍 it takes time for sure. But you definitely don’t want to be the cheap one out there that everyone talks about. Sure you get referrals, but with people expecting a crazy good deal!

Do you discuss budget before putting all the time into presenting a quote like this? If so do you have a video talking about it? It really sucks putting the time into a detailed quote to find out you are way over what they were expecting.

This is beautiful done sir! I have no experience but I do have to remodel my own restroom, I’m scared to do so because I don’t know what to do first. I have a water leak too that is costing us a lot of water and I am done with it. What should I take care off first sir?

establish what you can afford. Fixing the leak is number one priority 👍

How about adding the customers email to a constant contact email marketing? Great way to get repeat business is they buy another used house. I don’t know the cost.

Do you offer paid coaching for DIY? I could use guidance and advice on a few things I’m having issues with, and a plumber put me in a really bad spot.

How long until the "holy shit that's so expensive i can do a bathroom for 4000 demo, labour, and material,.... Where do you live...". Although irrelevant, dude diluting / ruining the market something fierce is not even aware of what was involved in the job, the proper skills required, licences, insurances, your area, the cost of materials in the area...

I can DIY a bathroom for less than 5k Why should have I have to go to the government to ask permission on how I want my shit And why am I gonna pay 30k one restroom alone People like you love to normalize high pricing because all you care about is money That’s cool lot of people willing to pay In today society majority don’t have that type of money Come off your high horse into the real world Fuck your permits and licenses
