Could someone fully explain what exactly he is doing with those very minor pushes of the brake pedal before the braking zone where he then properly pushes hard on the brakes?
@SakaGames5 жыл бұрын
The brake tap serves 2 purposes. First, light pressure on the brakes will allow the brake pad to clean the disk of any small debris that may have stuck to the disk. Hot disks can cause tire rubber to stick to them, and any debris on the disk or pad will cause braking to not be 100% powerful. The other function is mental, as the driver feels the contact of the pad and the disk, and the driver knows when they get on the binders that the brakes are there. The driver can assess how much pad fade has occurred over the course of a race, and know how effective their brakes will be. If the driver pushes the pedal and nothing is felt, they can assume the brakes are not functioning and get the car slowed down with the compression from the engine and downshifts before the corner.
@ThePhoenixWylde5 жыл бұрын
@@SakaGames Thank you for that, really good explanation. Never thought about how that slight push of the pedal could be used to clean the disk. And over a 1,000-kilometre race, having regular checks of how the brake pads ans disk are doing is no doubt paramount to knowing what kind of pace you can have.
@SwingAxleLover5 жыл бұрын
It's also for pad knockoff. The brake pads can move away from the disk during hard cornering and using curbs. This would cause a soft pedal. The brake tap re-seats the pad.

ELI5 on 0:43 why is the driver blipping on brakes while on a straight?
@danielholmes81413 жыл бұрын
Jianh1989 Cameron waters needs too blip the throttle on the down changing so he matches the gear box revs and the engine revs if he doesn’t he will lock the rears and around he will go. One thing Cameron needs to be very careful when down changing is he does not want to go through the gears too early if you feed a gear too early in a V8 supercar it will have a compression lock and Cameron will spin around
@jianh19893 жыл бұрын

@ryanwhitlock73505 жыл бұрын

@mitchellrobinson98105 жыл бұрын
Johannes Somera it’s because the pads get knock off down the straight from vibration and skimming on the rotor etc. etc. they just bring the pads back to where they should be so they don’t have a soft pedal in the big braking zones

@justinbleickardt71065 жыл бұрын
Why is there a tap of the brake pedal before each braking point?
@pinderwagen5 жыл бұрын
If you take kerbs, you can get pad knockback, its where the pads are pushed further away from the disc than expected. That means when you do press the brake the pedal travel and response is not what you are expecting. The brief tap with the left foot is to pre-position the pads back to the usual position ready for the next hard brake.

So they only use the clutch on downshifts?
@mesterorange81815 жыл бұрын
Yup, many Race cars can do upshifts without having to use the clutch but to downshift they usually have to use It .
@ShitHappensRLY5 жыл бұрын
seems like a racer's preference. some use clutch and some are fine with a throttle blip. Using clutch makes braking a little bit more stable especially on powerfull RWDs with sequential like Supercars which don't have auto blip as modern GT3 f.e., so there are less wheelspin because of gear ratio difference and less stress on the gearbox
@ZeroSpawn5 жыл бұрын
Rev matching or blipping?

They do it to bring the pads up to the face of the caliper so that when they brake it's an instant response. It's especially important in the enduro races because they run thicker pads.
