The main reason people didn’t like Michael Keaton for the role was he that was seen as a comedy actor. Bruce Willis was also thought of as a comedy actor and people didn’t like the idea of him in Die Hard at the time.

Man, can you imagine if Bruce Willis played a DC hero/villain in the 90s? Like Captain Cold from the Flash or Ted Kord's Blue Beetle before we got Xolo Maridueña's Jaime Reyes?

Batman (89) is my favorite movie of all time and It never gets old. Michael Keaton is my favorite live action Batman of all time and the music by Danny Elfman is iconic and legendary.

I have not seen this Nostalgic Critic video. Or really any of the Batman mouth videos he did until recently with these reactions. Wow, I didn’t knew he was a big fan defender of Batman 1989! Batman Returns was probably my first live action movie start to finish. Then I saw 89, and was like dang I see why it got the favorable reputation! And I discovered that I’m a Danny Elfman fan because he brought something special clearly the way he composes the scores. Batman The Animated Series was my exposer to Batman. And I even thought this was the live action version of it. Basically, I couldn’t agree more with y’all opinions when it comes to the definitive defining Batman roles, I envy anyone who saw this in theaters.

As a girly girl, Batman 1989 and Danny Elfman are my favorite Batman movie and score and Michael Keaton is still hands down the best definitive who’ve played the titular character and Jack Nicholson is the definitive terrifying Joker (sorry Heath and Mark fans). I do disagree with Doug that it’s not as realistic, I thought it had fairly realistic atmosphere and characters .. and ironically felt more realistic than the Dark Knight.

@Cyril Moore that's your opinion I respect it. My opinion though Kevin Connery is the one and only Batman. Whenever I read a Batman comic his voice is the only one I hear

Yes, he was. He *needed* Zack Snyder to save him, or should I say, his fanbase *needed* Zack Snyder to save him. And by that, I mean his fanbase *forced* WB to tell Zack Snyder, "We need you to... Save him, I guess?" And even then, Zack Snyder's Cut couldn't save him, 'cause now WB Discovery and Zaslav have given creative control to James Gunn and Peter Safran to reboot the DCU.
