Batman and Robin personal appearance 1986 shot by me

I shot this with my full-size VHS camcorder on Jan. 12, 1986. Burt Ward and Adam West in costume at an auto show in Toronto, Canada

I had no idea they did the personal appearances for this long. I did see Adam as Batman in the mid 1970's

I did some research on the post 1968 Batman and Robin work of Adam and Burt. The first photo I can find of Adam as Batman after the show went off the air was in 1974. The last photo is in 1990. The first confirmed date for Burt is '72. Burt's hair was pretty long until about '71 and I guess he cut it so he could do the personal appearances,. There are a ton of photos on Facebook if you have the patience to look for them

i saw adam west at the 1976 westbury car show dressed in the batman uniform minus Robin. He looked more like the batman from the tv show back then even though it was 8yrs after the show was cancelled . My friend ran over to him with the riddler mask and popped a riddle in his face .Then my other friend did the same Adam was laughing and replied "Well if i knew the riddler fan club was here i would have asked the warden at gotham state prison to let the riddler out on weekend pass "

from what I can see the costume was a mixture of original pieces and new in the 1970's. In the late '70's into the 1980's the costume was pretty much all new and refabricated.

I was a kid in the 80s, I would have loved to go to one of these. But how the heck would we find the information -- local papers, periodicals ? So hard to imagine how we got our info back then.

West upbeat to the last and Ward looking like he's taking an exam, but seriously the level of fans sense of entitlement they were exposed to, it takes some real discipline to deal with that

Wonder why they never did an official reunion movie? It was all the rage in those days; Andy Griffith, Mod Squad, Perry Mason, Leave it to beaver....

They wanted to but Warners was developing the movie that eventually came out in 1989.

Great video Thanks for posting it. Always been a fan of Batman 66. Just started buying the Batman 66 action figures. I'm 60 now but just a kid with Batman in black and white although the show was made in colour Over 10 years ago I bought the limited edition blu ray box set of the Batman 66 TV series and it came with a small batmobile.

Thanks for the upload! The Metro Toronto Convention Centre on January 12, 1986! The 20th anniversary of the Batman TV show! I was only a baby then, but I just saw my daddy in the line-up! lol!

This must have been so exhausting for them- mentally, physically and emotionally. I really respect their love of the fans and their willingness to do this. It couldn’t have been easy. Wonderful, yes, but urrrrgh.

Batman looks like he's in "tip-top" condition, hasn't aged a day, happy to be there. But Robin..it feels like he's trying not to choke somebody..aged 20 years.

Adam came to appear at Murray State in Kentucky back in 1985 or 86. He was over an hour late. Intentional or not he knew that only excited us more. When asked what it was like to work with Julie Newmar, he said, "She caused curious stirrings in my utility belt." The place went nuts. He was a great icon.

I hate how messed up Adam West's cowl looks. I like the darker version of Batman, of course. But this is how Batman & Robin were portrayed in print and in animation back in the day. So the 60's version of Batman & Robin will always be 100% fine with me.
