I think seeing the fall of his closest friend did a number on him. Bruce actually tried a lot of things that I think he wouldn't do if circumstances were different. Him saying "I miss the people we were then" was his final effort to appeal to Clark's good side, to try to bring him back but even that proved to be futile.

Also, the facial emotes were perfect too for all the characters especially Batman when he was talking to Superman and Kara. That subtle look of empathy on Bruce's face when Clark said Brainiac killed his parents.

But decided to save him regardless of the possible conflict between them later. God I love the subtle bits between these two in injustice. Makes you miss them being friends and appreciate them being friends in the original universe even more. I also like how super girl’s tune changes and develops.

Back then Batman would always have a consistency plan for every Justice League member should they go rogue, and he always ready for when that happens; making him unable to trust either of them more. But now… His suspicions came sorta true, and now all he wants is to go back to the old days where they all fought side-by-side, where he and Superman remain good friends, where he would still have both his sons (Dick and Damien).
