You got to love Jamie Chung’s vocal performance as Dr. Quinzel/Harley Quinn and how she manages to make her interpretation of the character brand new and different from the other incarnations of Harley Quinn. Even it’s worth noting the differences with how her character is portrayed cause when she is a civilian under Dr. Quinzel she is bubbly and bouncy, but under her guise as Harley Quinn she is much darker, more sinister, and more serious, similar to how Bruce Wayne is portrayed as a regular kind civilian and under his guise as Batman he’s portrayed more serious. Even though she seemingly sacrificed herself to save Barbara Gordon (showing a human side to her), hopefully Dr. Quinzel/Harley makes a return in the next season or two cause the episode’s ending hints that she survived the fall.

Her motivations are good or let's say at least understandable tho. Imagine being a psychiatrist for rich people and you have to listen to those self centered assholes stories the whole day, where of course they are always the victim and you realize you are not making any progress and those jerks probably won't ever change. That must be very frustrating. So now she's fed up and tries to FORCE them to change. Of course torture is still torture, but I'm saying compared to Penguin or Clayface she doesn't just want to wreak havoc for selfish reasons. She does have a point and when she returns in another season, I can see this making her dynamic with Barbara or even Batman very interesting.

A lot of people diss this series, but I don't think they see the 10 episodes as a whole and only nitpick on specific details. It shows actual developments with the relationship between the characters, Bruce's introduction into unfamiliar territory like the supernatural, and Bruce avoiding deeper connections to avoid getting hurt makes it feel a little natural considering how affected he is from his parents' death.

The comments along those lines that I've read suggest that most (if not all) haven't watched the show at all, and are just $H!%posting "culture warrior" sheep who have been told this show offends them because "DEI" and "woke" and all the other _yip yip yap blip blop blap._ It's fine for someone to not like a show, but I can decide for myself if I like it or not. And while I enjoy a *thoughtful* analysis of pros and cons, if I see a thumbnail of some smirking redpill redcap with a title like "(SHOW/MOVIE/FRANCHISE) D.O.A. I'm 9 episodes in and I really wanted to like it, but I'm kind of mixed. I think I got more into it as time went on but...well this might anger people here but personally I just don't find most of the characters particularly engaging. Renee Montoya and the two Gordons are pretty good though. Maybe the last one will radically change my mind, but even though I'm kind of conservative I'm not upset by the politics as 1) People of Left-wing politics can obviously produce great art, B:TAS itself I think was basically on the Left. And I've liked several very Left-leaning shows in the past. I sometimes value seeing a different perspective in my fiction. 2) The race swapping complaints are, as usual, dumb. Batman has race-swapped characters since Eartha Kitt put on the catsuit, maybe earlier for all I know. To be honest I am pretty much never bothered by race-swapping characters anyway unless they are real historical figures or the characters ethnicity was somehow crucial to the character. (I feel like there are "ethnic white" characters whose ethnicity mattered, but I blanked on a great example.)

You might be right about the secret Alfred's keeping, but I still think it's just that Batman is Bruce Wayne. A point to you though, is that if that was the case, Batman could've said something like "I already KNOW it". But it's also fine for Batman not to volunteer anything to the ghost.

Also, I like the re-alignment of some of the characters that we got used to in the original show because since this version is stepping away from the higher tech version of the original, but they want to keep certain characters so they adjust who they are in the show in particular Lucius fox. I like the fact that he is his lawyer and this particular case so he is much more involved in the storyline of Batman instead of being the he’s the one that comes up with the tack or in the original contact he’s the one that helped build the car and works on the car, but he’s not really that involved With anything else and the fact he is to Bruce Wayne than Batman that I like because it kind of gives more of a vehicle for Bruce Wayne then Batman they are slowly in what I am feeling. They are going to give a little more playtime to Bruce Wayne at some point then Batman.

I’ll throw out a couple of quick examples in the case of the penguin the whole idea that a henchman explained that the what seemed to be a display of this top hat with an umbrella on top of the ship was in fact, a real ballistic launching canon in disguise Was fantastic. She was literally hiding a military weapon in the guys of an umbrella and top pad. That was great. The next one was clay face wearing this version instead of his whole body being able to transform in and morph into just about anyone it’s simply his face so he can become just about anybody else and on top of that he is an actor so he knows how to perform. They always forget that she's a doctor, she earned her initials (and that she's a victim in the usual depictions). Batman straight up calls her an idiot sometimes. It's nice to see her being portrayed as intelligent and self motivated. And I appreciate that she doesn't turn on Barbara, she remains a loyal friend even after the truth comes out. 😮 guys. I was in my mid-20s when the show came out and I was fascinated because it was not Adam West animated cartoon style. It was a little more mature and obviously, so is this show but there’s just a certain field that Bruce Timm brings to his animated Batman that is unique for me and that is the feel I am getting from this. For me personally I feel like I am watching Batman the animated series series, but set in the style of the 40s and it is working for me. I am also, totally in with the reinterpretation of the classic characters because they are not for the heaviness the threat that the villains are to Batman as a matter fact, they for me are very much less cartoony and some aspects. They very much feel much more threatening than they did before.
