In most versions Alfred is quick to pick up any possible weapon to defend others (especially Bruce). I remember one version of Alfred that beats up Superman. it's from Injustice: Gods among us. Another his version ends up in Arkham, teaming up with Bane to escape and even earning Bane's respect by killing a vampire. One other thing is that alfred is not Bruce, he has military background and is willing to kill if he thinks that's the best option.

I reckon _Gotham_ really paved the way for a more physical and ‘raw’, front-and-center Alfred. Makes sense that, if you had to transplant the Batman franchise to the modern setting, that Alfred would more likely have been the Waynes’ head of security, rather than a ‘butler’ (though I believe he was still a butler in this show).
@lordsathariel43843 жыл бұрын
well in fairness a lot of military who go back to civilian life would mostly go to bodyguard or security. thing is a true butler isn't just a waiter like most depict their job is normally much more complex they normally are the head and face of the house the first person you meet as you enter before you meet the host or owner the man who keeps things running properly and helps keep their boss organised and organises what their boss doesn't have time for since the Wayne's are rich would make sense they would hire someone who can double as protection since they only have one house staff member in most iterations plus Alfred is a badass and former spy/sas so they seem to have gone for the all in one package or as most say quality over quantity. plus if you look at most proper butlers they take their job more seriously then a war its like the guards at london tower they have one job and they do it to the max you help. get out the way or get ran down.

Gotham was a mixed bag as a whole because so much didn’t work But what did work and made it great at times were Bruce and Alfred, Jim and Harvey

Please remember, O villains of Gotham, that Alfred Pennyworth has zero restrictions on guns or murder, and Bruce won't lift a finger if Al goes on a bender.

I started to watch Gotham from the beginning and stopped. I DEFINITELY NEED TO GO BACK TO IT. This is DEFINITELY Alfred at his most AWESOME.

Man, every Alfred I’ve seen is just some old butler who’s cool with keeping secrets. Instead he’s more likely to kill than Bruce.

My respects to Mr Pennyworth. He got himself a cush job straight out of the military, gained legal control over employer's fortune and heir, had employers offed, responsibly managed billions, while isolating and weaponizing the heir into a completely obedient and yet stone cold sociopath, and all the while nobody ever even glanced his way. "Badass" doesn't even begin to describe this man.

Ya know, I actually never thought of things that way. Still not my canon but very interesting view point.
