One thing I'll never understand is how DC has a multiverse with "Infinite Earths". Literally. Which means you can have versions of characters and continuities that can do whatever they want, crazy decisions and only be limited by imagination. But something simple as "this universe made the Penguin a woman" is enough to make fans crazy and hate it? You seriously draw the line at "in this universe, this character is female?"

That's actually why I'm my opinion. Of you can do that, who pick a world with such irrelevant change? Female penguin added nothing but the gender change. If you're looking at it like that, why not show us the full gender swap universe where everyone is the opposite? I'd watch that, I'd enjoy that, and it would have a greater impact than this. There's great female villains already, it just seemed to be change for changes sake. As a fan and a writer and a ally, it seemed like a move for nothing more than to get attention, not to add to the world of Batman or add to the viewers experience

Same with Bruce for that matter. The task issue I have is why not commit to that then and give us a world full of changes. This change by itself as nothing to the story and really only gives us cause to argue. It doesn't add to the penguin or the show. It's not a move to be woke though.

Gender swaps are a lazy and unnecessary way to insert diversity. I'm sorry but people crying about a gender swap is so embarrassing. The show literally changes/re-imagines every single character in the entire show. You don't have to like how it was executed, but to say that you wouldn't have minded everything the penguin did had he been a man because it "would have been scary" makes you sound HELLA silly imo. The writers wanted to switch things up with this interpretation of Batman and his villains, changing the gender of one of them is not even close to being one of the biggest changes they made, nor is it the deepest. Ya'll gotta grow up. Also, Batman killing has got to be the dumbest take people still have about Batman to this day. Him killing in some early comics means absolutely nothing and that argument is so tiring. He was still developing as a character. Superman couldn't fly in his first comics; by your logic he shouldn't be able to fly now. You lose so much of what makes his character interesting if you decide to make batman the punisher in a batman costume. A batman with a moral code is a batman that is strong enough to be incorruptible.

I don't think you understand why people are discussing (not crying over) the gender swap. If anything, Martin came at it respectfully and from a place of genuine storytelling. It added nothing new to the character of any substance, it brought nothing additional to the role of any significance and if anything it only took from the airway week established female villains in the Batman universe.

If you can't come up with an actual rebuttal to the genuine points made by Martin regarding the change, you shouldn't be commenting. You start by saying, "who cares" when it's clear people do. And instead of being open minded and looking into it, you showed just how close moved you are by your response. There's no reason there can't have a female penguin but there's no rational or logical reason that's been presented so far. The show runners starts it was because the penguin isn't male or female but an essence. Right there they are stating they changed it for likely no narrative purpose. The issue isn't change itself, but change for no purpose, no world building, no addition. If Batman lacked female roles then sure, but it doesn't.
