People like Darkseid, Superman, and so on can contest him physically often enough and he's not invincible, he be hurt, can get tired, overwhelmed, tricked, can lose, but DC was pretty adamant that, in terms of raw physical power and fighting prowess. an experienced, well into his name He-Man was on top while they had the rights, with differing versions just varying depending on how large the gap was. Another version of him gave Darkseid the most devastating defeat he's ever received and took down Injustice Superman for good, as in as of the last time I checked [about a year ago] that's the canonical final end of Injustice.

He'd have to work at it. It's really hard to encapsulate how much stronger and tougher than Superman He-Man usually is. He lacks a lot of Superman's more unique or exceptional powers, but generally is shown as having a pretty respectable edge in the more bread and butter abilities. When he kicked Superman in the same crossover, it hit him so hard it caved in his fucking sternum and left an imprint of his boot like stomping a hole in mud. Later, MotU He-Man [as compared to the Nu-52 He-man from mainline DC] ended up being the guy who canonically brought an end to Injustice after working with the Resistance and Nu52 Skeletor [it's complicated] to wreck both Injustice Superman and Darkseid, to the point that it's honestly the biggest defeat the later's ever had. DC for whatever reason really fucking likes He-Man.

Canonically they're separate as far as DC is concerned. Grayskull is home to the center of the Multiverse while the Rock of Eternity, while having a name that fits the theming, is separate from Eternia's nexus and unrelated He-Man actually uses the power of Shazam after losing access to Grayskull for awhile in Injustice VS. The Masters of the Universe.

The energy in question comes from beyond the Multiverse, completely outside spacetime as we (us here and the characters of DC and MotU) understand it at this Level/Frequency/Wavelength of existence. Think about it. Say the "Activations Words", and you are inundated with an energy, that takes the form of lightning, which then transforms one into the best possible physical version of oneself, plus, and supercharged. All versions of the Shazam Family does this, and both Netflix He-Man continuities as well. WHAT the actual source of that energy truly is, is for another discussion entirely.

Another addition of a weakness that you can exploits is also something explored back in the original show. He like many heroes of that time had a no kill rule, and when he meant first killed, he relinquished his own power. May be a good tactic against him would also to be making him believe that he had killed someone so that he can relinquish the power before he can become more dangerous. Of course, this can only be a limited time since he is the holder and having to give up such a title and power is very difficult.
