Except that "bulletproof" fabric does not work that way. It actually spreads the impact over the whole surface to prevent penetration but you still feel the full momentum of the bullet. And it only works against a firm surface - the bullet will push aside fabric which is just hanging like Batman's cape.

Read that the original vision for The Flash was very, very different from what we got. Only around half of the original script remained. Apparently there was so much studio meddling that the movie practically got directed by a couple suits and their nephews. Like as bad as Justice League if not worse. And yes, both Keaton's Batman and Calle's Supergirl were supposed to survive and get their own spinoffs.
