Exactly! The Rise of The Tomb Raider is still the best example of how to support PS4 Pro properly. It gives not only one but two different options to the player to choose from how to utilize the system's extra power. That's how it's done. If I were in the Sony management I'd make this mandatory for all games that are on PS4 or at least for the games that have PS4 Pro patch and all upcoming PS4 games. They are already bullying developers left and right, why not apply something useful and pro-consumer rules for a change?

Bringing these games from the modified Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4 and changing the look of the game are some very stupid decisions. All they really had to do was releasing the PC versions on consoles in native 1080p and 60fps on the highest settings, and maybe improve some textures here and there. That would have been perfect, but they had to go the bullshit route. Sad, really. :(

However, They'd been better off porting the PC version over and tweaking it to run well on the consoles. You'd at least get a locked full 1080p on the base consoles, and maybe higher frame rates, especially on the pro model.

GPU PhysX effects are an nVidia thing so legally they can't. At best, you can use it as a general physics engine like so many others, but the special shit's locked behind legal agreements.

I'd say this is mainly good news. It went from a messy to a stable performance. I wouldn't have expected the games to reach 60fps anyway, so locked 30fps is the next best thing. Though it's a shame there is not visual enhancements on the Pro. They could have at least extended the range of the dynamic resolution beyond 1080p.

I think this game was made with making improvements on the original console in mind. I think if you played it on PS3 and Xbox 360 and wanted an upgrade for your new console, then this is a good option for better visuals. If you are a PC gamer, this isn't an upgrade for you, therefore it is best to stay on the PC. As a person who doesn't own a gaming PC, this is an upgrade for me above the originals, despite it not having 60fps, it still is visually an upgrade from PS3 and 360. I don't blame anyone for feeling one way or the other about this collection, but I can't consider it anywhere close to "the worst remaster ever". I can see disappointing, but I don't think it's the worst.

I was perfectly happy playing at an unlocked framerate on Pro. I'm usually in favour of a 30fps cap. But it actually felt smooth on pro, despite being inconsistent. Just give people the option. I foolishly allowed the patch to update, and now half way through the game, it feels jarring playing at 30fps. It was fine before.

What people seems to forget is that the game now runs in the garbage Unreal 4. U4 can provide great graphics, sure, but as a 4K enthusiast I can tell you, U4 was designed for 1080p gaming. The engine suffers tremendously at higher resolution and presents several shading scale issues. It still works fine up to 1440p, but beyond that the engine pretty much breaks itself and go bananas. I kind of understand why it won't go past 1080p even though we expect PS4 PRO to run remasters of old games at native 4k. I blame the engine judging by all U4 tests I've done on my Titan X.

I'm pretty much done with consoles at this point. The only reason why I won't sell my PS4 Pro or my original PS4 is because upcoming GT Sport and NHL games which are to us Finns lifeline. Which is why this should've never been released. Devs didn't want to do it and gamers were generally happy with the base PS4. What Sony should've done is mandate more graphical settings for base PS4 games and that would've fixed a lot. Base PS4 users didn't give a shit about 4K, they just wanted their normal games to run 1080p 60fps or at least have a choice of framerate and resolution. What's happening with Pro is just a spit into the face of what people were asking for. Fuck the Pro and fuck Sony for this. Wake me up when PS5 comes. I'm cool with my base PS4.

For the price of a PS4 Pro I upgraded my PC and now all games run at 1080p60. Often even 1080p144 I really expected more from Sony.

I'm wondering if the tablet CPU holding back the Polaris based GPU, I can run this game at 60 locked (1440P) on my 290. The 480 is every bit as fast, if not faster than my aging 290. I have the Pro as well and wished Sony would have bumped the CPU up to 2.7 GHZ to go along with it's Polaris GPU.

If I had to guess, I'd say that there's a limit to the Jaguar cpu architecture possibly. I'm really not qualified to give any absolutes. But, it just doesn't seem like Sony would choose that low of a clock on purpose. And, who knows? Maybe, the next tier up cpu-wise might've only cost Sony a little more from AMD. But, Sony just didn't want to pay?

I want to delete my data on HDD then go offline on my PS4-Pro and then install the disc data to play the game - without any patching, 1.01 or 1.02, will I get the unlocked frame rate again on PS4-Pro ? A first model alienware alpha can run this at 1080p 60fps with all settings except for anti-aliasing (one below max) at their highest setting, shame on Rocksteady, the Pro should be able to do the same thing

I did played this game with PhysX on a GTX 560 Ti Hawk and i5-2400 back then (60fps also) , the art direction looks so bad now with UE4.....they should had done what Bioshock Collection did not this...ffs .

This video could be summed up by saying patch 1.02 locked the frame rate at 30 fps. I have a gaming PC and can play most games at 4K at 60 fps or greater, that being said, I would rather have a locked 30 fps than the random 25-53 fps that patch 1.01 offered.

Yeah it's called "the Pro was a terrible idea and terribly implemented." This just shows the Pro is a waste of money. People don't want a minor upgrade, they'd rather wait for a brand new system. It's just like PC, most people don't buy a 1080, then next year buy the 1180. They use that card for 2 - 4 years THEN upgrade. And them trying to "PC" the PS4 with a measly ass upgrade is just a way to fuck over potential consumers. Just buy a PS4 or Xbox One WITH a game for $250 bucks, or don't even bother and stay/go for a powerful PC, that's my recommendation. Much more bang for the buck with those 2 options, especially the ladder.

I'm disappointed with Patch 1.02. Not impressive compared to PS3 ZOE The 2nd Runner's Patch with perfect 60 Frames Per Seconds. And UbiSoft is also disappointing with their game performance on Consoles, especially with PS4 and XBox One. They're just being stupid: Won't make their games 60 FPS except First Person Shooters on Consoles because they're "not powerful enough".

hes actually right. The jaguar architecture is the hinderance to gaining 60 fps in games, especially heavy physics games like the Arkham series. Very little can be done aside from releasing another PS4 with a different architecture but thats impossible as the console has to use a max of 250 watts at full load last i checked. sticking an FX 8120 (which eats 120 watts on its own) in a PS4 would be impossible. Shooters rarely have to deal with cpu based physics compared to games such as third person beat-em ups suck as arkham and open world games such as assassins creed. My own FX 8120 (which is miles faster than the bobcat modules inside the jaguar architecture) lets just say even my PC which isnt weak has trouble with physic's based games i get the occasional stutter.
