As weird as it might be for Alfred to be swooning over a married woman, it makes 10 times more sense than having Alfred be Barbara’s familial uncle. it would explain why Barbara doesn’t have a British accent why she calls him uncle Alford, despite being six decades younger and it’s no stretch the imagination that she became very skilled and motorcycling in metropolis rather than an England. “Metropolis is pretty rough.” is a line that makes more sense than “London’s pretty rough.”
