To our delight they are and in my opinion Hans is the heir of the greatest classical composers in history, along with (but ahead of) Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, John Williams, Vangelis and perhaps Ramin Djawadi. Just as Homer is the prince of all poets, Hans reigns over all composers.

I've always loved when the French Horn players get their spotlight shown on them. Such bold powerful instruments, and this is with no electronic augmentation. Just 8 musicians blasting away on those glorious horns with their mastery skills using two simple yet powerful notes.

I love that there is such a feeling of drive in the last fourth or so of the song. It mimics the pure drive and sheer will of Bruce to be Batman in spite of the constant sacrifices he has to make.

This is an incredible performance by a VERY gifted duo of composers and yes, this AND the Inception score were BOTH oscar worthy, and should have won. But I feel that it is worth noting that the entire body of work from ZImmer and Newton-Howard would be just a good evenings work for Beethoven or Wagner. Alas, Beethoven and Wagner are not with us and we all benefit because Zimmer and Newton-Howard ARE! These guys represent what film scoring is supposed to be!
