Joel, that's why the movie feels like it's 2 movies. It is! Batman v. Superman is the first hour and 45mins and the last hour and 10 "the doomsday stuff" is Dawn of Justice. Aka the blatant advertisement of our future Justice League movie!

Did we complain he was careless? We complained he was morose & quick to violence. Also the fight you are talking about didn't take place in Superman the animated series it was Justice League. Keep in mind that fight was masterminded by Lex Luthor to cause as much damage as possible to make him look like a threat to the rest of the city.

Ok, I guess I was a little off with my wording. Carless, quick to violence, somewhere in the same ball park. But going back to the example of superman vs captain marvel fighting in the justice league animated series (when saying animated series, I mean the whole dccu animated), Superman wasn't showing any restraint during the fight, essentially being quick to violence. And this was another hero, not like Zod, he should of been able to reason. Go watch the clip of superman fighting captain marvel, you'd find that superman was showing no remorse fighting captain marvel, throwing him into buildings which presumable have people. Yah, you could say Lex would of done worse, but Sups could of tried not to throwing Marvel into a building, or better yet reason with him.

Jbills21 Each Episode of the Animated series had a different director. also that captain Marvel fight had Superman acting out of character. The end of that episode has Capt Marvel quiting the JL because "you guys don't act like heroes anymore" both that episode and the DCEU movies are a deconstruction of the superhero. basically saying what happens when you meet your idols? are they as great as you think they are? also Tim Burton's Batman stands alone because Tim Burton says himself doesn't even know anything about Batman.

Christopher Zeta also burning someone alive but still alive is something in his m.o and also the whole thing about these characters is that they have personal morals & creeds that defines them & actions. Superman is supposed to be a symbol of hope, he may kill zod in mos because he's young & inexperienced but he never grows into a proper hero that gains the trust of the people and has a code likewise batman has may be unhinged but he has personal traits, if he had spared superman after he said: "you can kill me later but save those women first!" Then it showed that batman knows that superman at least cares for humans rather than simply they share a same name!

Caped-Joel I suppose that is fair enough. Personally I think Suicide Squad is worse bc it was everything I didn't like about BvS Theatrical such as messy storytelling, bad editing, clear disregard for the fanbase etc (I didn't hate the Ultimate Edition but putting that aside) and somehow made it worse. But that's just my opinion. Still, I walked out of the theater after seeing BvS probably as heartbroken as you two were.

Though it's inexplicably occurred too many times, a "fight" between Superman and Batman is the most ridiculous plot points of all. For all intents and purposes, Superman is a GOD. Yet, we are told, and lead to believe, time and time again, that a MAN in a fetish leather suit is capable of defeating him. This is pure non-sense. There is NOTHING Batman can do in order to be "prepped" and ready to "fight", or even come close to defeating, Superman. If either of these characters were to be written properly, such a scenario would, and should, never take place. I could, but if I need to go into detail as to why this is the case, you have been suckered into accepting the most inexplicable and outright stupid matchups between mismatched characters.

Louis Riehm Well the reason they are most always paired to fight is simply to be metaphorical to man vs god. Now this movie is pretty bad so I use Dark Knight Returns as a frame of reference. It never does have any reason to be logical, they fight because of how they are two sides of the same coin in that one has powers and one doesn't, one is a man of the night the other a hero in daylight, one the optimist and the other bot necessarily pessimistic but skeptical of people due to what he has dealt with. The match up also has to do with them being two of DC's oldest and most profitable characters. Both go back to when Superman starred in Action Comics and Batman in Detective comics. The matchup happens because of the history and development of characters and also the whole Man v God. Logically, Superman would win, but the general audience loves an underdog story. But this movie had not much of either, thus the disappointment

Excellent, commentary guys. I'll be honest; the UC is at least a movie where it is watchable and I'll take it over the DC. But really, that's all I'll say. MOS, in comparison, is a much better film than this. This movie feels like we've missed another one, minimum MOS 2. Because, really, this movie was made by someone who hated Superman. And while I do like Snyder as a director, he clearly shouldn't have been given the keys to do Superman. Especially, after killing not only Superman, but the entire family/cast of characters!!! Sorry, but that's what really irritates me. Why is Emil Hamilton, Mercy Graves and Jimmy Osen dead? Seriously, Zack did you not have the dignity/respect to at the very least leave those characters out. Henry Cavil, I like as an actor, but man Snyder makes him look like a piece of cardboard. Affleck is decent acting wise, but his character is a mixed bag. And less I say about Essenberg, the better. Overall, Snyder really did immense damage to the DCEU. MOS was a mixed bag, but honestly, I could still see WB being able to recover after that. This movie clearly was what happened when hubris took over; specifically, about those who hate Superman. And Suicde Squad, much as I like that film, clearly showcased a lack of direction. I hope Johns and company can turn this ship around because given CW has created a more interesting universe, it's really sad. As someone who loves DC, these movies kind of break my heart. Score: 6/10 (better than the TC which is a 5/10).
