At first this new album, I hated it, found it pretencious. Then one day I had this overwhelming day at work, a lot of stress, a lot of work, from home. Bought a beer, lit a cigarrette and youtube put this in my mix. That was bliss. True bliss.

I felt that way about AM. It was a new sound for them and I wasn't buying it. A year or two after it's release, it clicked and I loved it This album feels like an evolved extension of the style they were developing in AM and I loved it from the start I won't pretend I don't miss their garage punk vibe from the early days, but there's nothing really like their new stuff from other artists. It's like cigar lounge music with heavy sex appeal and a raw bass punch anchoring a drape of soft melodic undertones. It's a sophisticated delicacy for the ears Edit: I realize in hindsight this reply makes me seem as pretentious as you originally thought this album was lol

This has always been my favorite album, its so different from the usual rock they do. At first I was a bit like meh, but damn these lyrics. Alex is a genius.

There’s an album by Smash Mouth called Astro Lounge, that’s the best way I could categorize this album. It’s space-y lounge music and it’s a very good vibe.

Once you realize how high you are when you think up these thoughts, the meaning becomes rather silly, meaningless and pointless as it’s deepest meaning can be. But if it makes you wanna dance, it has utility
