"You feel around the stonework and find a uniform crack outlining a hidden door. There is no handle." Cue thirty minutes of my players trying increasingly off-the-wall plans to pull it open. Never once thinking to just push until: "You throw the fire axe, it flips end over end as it sails towards the door, impacting, splintering the faux-stone woodwork. As you move to inspect the new hole in the door, you notice the door has been pushed open slightly from the impact. Turns out this hidden door was a PUSH door." And that is a tale from the first game I ever DM'd. Every player has a dim-bulb moment like this. It's always hilarious.

A classic screw the players mind that i heard many years ago was done by another dm, cant remember his name. The pcs become trapped inside a circular room with a pillar in the middle and a countdown device on it and a single button. As the doors slam shut, the count down begins quickly. See how much time it takes t them to realise they need to let the count down finish. If they keep pushing the button the countdown resets, but letting it run out opens the doors. WARNING:USING THIS AGAINST YOUR PLAYERS MAY RESULT IN BODILY INJURY UPON YOUR PERSON AS A DM.

I LOVE Sam as a player. It's all the little moments, like him saying the necklaces start to glow when Tary goes down or the way he chucks his lance at Keyleth who turned into a fire giant while he couldn't see her. He also comes up with creative and unexpected solutions for everything, so playing a bard and an artificer really suit him.

He may throw up, and curl up, and be afraid but he does what he can. That's impressive in the face of a Kraken, or pirates, or a devils and pit fiends.

@@Zalied Marisha should never be in charge of making plans; she's not good at it. I don't care if she's Matt's wife or if her character is supposed to be the leader of her tribe, she has no head for tactics or combat contingencies and should be directed as to what to do and not actually be involved in the planning stages. Sam and Travis actually have the better plans and tactics but due to their characters' profiles nobody takes them seriously. Grog is too dumb (and Travis is awesome at RP'ing that) so he's constantly being told to go play with his rocks and leave the planning to the smart people. Scanlan isn't trustworthy and kind of flakey and nobody really sees him as the mastermind that he is (again, we've got excellent RP by Sam) and Taryon is kind of a douche and new to not only the team but adventuring, as well, so it makes perfect sense why nobody pays him any mind.

Django Cribbs You’re right in that he gets his action surge back on a short rest, but Frenzied Rage causes him to suffer a point of exhaustion when his rage ends, so if he keeps using it without taking a long rest, it could cost him pretty quickly.

I loved their interactions with Tova at the end. And Tary is the one who kicked it off! He offered to help Tova first, then she helps Vex, and I think that's the bigger character motivation for Vax - that Tova helped his sister to make sure they all got out ok. And I think another part of that could have been the Raven Queen; the whole úshering people over when it's their time', and perhaps Vax felt like since they met Tova it wasn't her time yet and he needed to help her on her mission somehow to carry out the will of his patron.

I actually try to model my descriptions of my character's actions and my interactions with my DM in polite requests, because I noticed Travis doing that. What your character says or how they act is one thing, but I say one should usually at least try to be polite, respectful, and inclusive. Especially with the DM. This is one small way to do that. I think an actual TPK would be the good way out in that scenario. But the devils get nothing by killing them on the spot. Instead, they'd get captured, stripped down of their belongings, separated, and then tortured until they're overcome by corruption. Then they'd be killed and their souls would enter the ownership of some devil, to be consumed or become slaves.

Or just really impulsive and poor decision making by the supposed "wisest character in the party" who knows she's bad at interacting with NPCs but insists on it anyway every time and also makes last minute changes to the plans they make at almost every opportunity. There was literally no reason for her to try and pretend to be a "first responder" or whatever her plan was and in character keyleth is supposed to have way too high of a wisdom score to have thought that was a good idea, but marisha has to put keyleth in the forefront of every situation even when keyleth would know better. And it turns out, she's surprisingly good at busting the party out of prison, so it was a complete waste of a spell to alter shape like she did. But true to form for keyleth, honestly

It was agreed upon that they'd have to be TRANSPORTED to the location of the prison unspoiled and unharmed specifically by the Cambion's allies. Any damage resulting from the battle against Utugash was not part of the deal.

assuming Doty qualifies as equipment (being that he is not sentient) the agreement was to transfer the party's equipment to the cell with them and Doty was not. Doty was left behind and was torn apart by the devils. If Doty is considered a member of the party, then I guess the contract is still good since he died in the fight and not in transit to the prison.

And besides, if they were caught, there would be no negotiations whatsoever. Only death and eternal damnation. Also, as for Percy, they would've found the copy of the contract on his person, which would've been a very bad thing to have happen. +Sentrygun84 Now that is just rude. Do you even understand that with the death of Tiberius, the departure of Scanlan, and the absence of Pike, she's their only full caster right now? Thus, she has to concentrate on a lot more than just her own things. She's suddenly having to make up for the party's lack of robust casting potential. It's just adding more pressure and stress.

VM definitely has a problem of thinking that they get an automatic respite when a fight is over. The generally go into this super relaxed mode and rarely worry about healing or anything else immediately happening. It's one of the things I like about Vex, because she's generally one of the few players that will make a point of saying she's healing someone after a fight rather than the rest of the group that tends to not really be taking the situation seriously in those moments. Also later a comment was made about how "there was no time to heal" but Vex healed herself so Keyleth definitely could have healed.

Without Pike and Scanlan there aren't many characters that can heal. Unless you wanted them to burn to potions. There is only one person that could dish out some serious heals in the party right now, but well... the hate train on Keyleth is there for a reason. But regardless. 93 episodes in. I'm already used to this. If anything Keyleth turn is always something to look forwards to because you can expect it to "interesting".

Unfortunately, Marisha seems to be blinded by big numbers. She focuses way too much on high level spells and then either misreads them and fails or wastes them on dumb decisions. A simple fairy fire or two would have negated all the traps the pit fiend (through the imps) threw at them and would have helped end the fight faster. Matt specifically desribed what the fiend was doing with his fingers and then Trinket and Tova alerted the party that there were two small invisible others around. Matt even described shimmers and switches being pressed in the wall before traps opened.

If those devils work for the guy who gave them the contract, then he's in breach by what they did to Doty! If Doty is considered a person - they were promised that the group would be brought unharmed to the prison, and if Doty is considered equipment, they were promised that their equipment would be brought with them and kept available. Either way, he didn't fulfill his end.

Something about the intro movie. I really love Liam/Vax's amount of focus when he tosses that dagger up, I think Vax would be that hyper focused. One of my favorite parts of that scene, and the flames they put in Grog's eyes.
