This specific video should be shown to everyone that desires to vape, along with your other videos. I think this would be a good introductory video. In the past five years I've spent countless hours searching for any and all information regarding batteries because like any hobby I have I want to be proficient, safe, and good at what I do. It took me years to obtain the battery knowledge I gained and some of it was simply wrong, but mostly correct. These videos of yours would of saved me so much time searching, reading, and staring at screens. Hundreds of hours of studying and 5 years of vaping, then your videos just come out and show that 40% of what I studied was wrong in little to big ways. Maybe I'm just a nerd for details but this stuff is absolutely invaluable and is unbelievably appreciated. Thank you sir

I have to say, I am in no way a newbie to vaping. It has been nearly 6 years since I switched from analogs. Almost everything you covered was things I knew (but you still made it interesting). The one thing I have never understood was how (and more importantly why) the wrap and insulator are so critical. Thank you, Mooch, for everything you do for this community!!!

I've been vaping for 5 years and I tell you what man..it took a lot of research and googlefu to find all of this on my own. I'm so glad you are making these incredibly informative and educational videos. I will recommend these to anyone I know from now on because man they are useful. I've seen your tests and scores on batteries before and I've heard about you and what you do for the community and I'm glad you are making these videos because it is so so so important. I have a buddy that I had to let know that he was exceeding his current ratings for his batteries and he said "naw man it's good it's on a regulated mod so I'm protected." I had to learn him some stuff.

Thank you Mooch for doing all these videos for beginner as well as experienced vapers! Everyone needs to understand at least this much to move forward in their path of vaping. If I may add some modest suggestions to improve the Information sharing: - When touching on a topic, it would be lovely if you add in an annotation (clickable link) which will refer viewers to a more in-depth explanation of that topic. For example; when touching on the 'IMR, INR, ICR' topic in this video, you can add an annotation box to refer viewers who want to know more about it to your other video (which explains the differences between the different battery terms) as well as text in the annotation box to inform viewers that if they wish to find out more on this topic, they may click on the annotation box. - Battery basics is what every vaper should know. Therefore I think you should make this video your channel's default/featured video. This may change in the future but for now, this video is the quintessence of vaping knowledge (as least IMO). This helps in smooth information distribution for viewers as well as improving view counts overall in your channel. Viewers will also be able to easily find out what they wish to know and who knows, you may find yourself having more subscribers! In-depth testings and explanations on batteries are very important and we as subscribers appreciate your dedication and hard work :). It is paramount that everyone should understand this and once again thank you for everything!

Thanks Mooch! This is a great series, a much needed resource for new vapers. And thank you for saying the word "explode", so many channels on KZbin under exaggerate like "you're going to have a bad time" or "you don't want that" when referring to shorts.... It would be a catastrophe!, not "a bad time", I honestly feel it's despicable.

Awesome stuff as always. Personally I'd love to see a really in depth look at how the boards work. I understand you need to get the basics out there first though. I've looked for DC to DC converters (wanting to build a desk mod) but was hard pressed to find one small enough but have more than a 3 amp rating, and too broke to buy a DNA board.

Hey mooch thanks for the run down on some of the slang or lingo involved with vaping! Question! Why is it so important to charge your batteries in a battery charger and not through the USB Jack on your mod? If you manage to short a battery without it venting I would assume it's also ruined right? I accidentally put a backwards battery in a unregulated series mod and one of the batteries sparked as I was tightening it. I managed to get the door off before the battery vented but it did get hotter than I've ever seen. I still have the pair in a case (I meant to recycle them but never got around to it). One of the cells has no visible damage, the other has arc marks on the negative. Usually I double check everything to do with batteries too, and nowadays I am even more careful.
@batterymooch6 жыл бұрын
There’s no way to know. We always have to err on the side of caution though. I recommend not using and replacing both batteries.

Just watched video one of minding your mahs, then jumped here and I'm only :47 seconds in so far. But in terms of content I'm interested in: I just switched from regulated with prebuilt coils to a semi-regulated RDA where I'd like to try out building coils at different resistances, materials, etc. I'm at the point where I have a surface level understanding of electronics... I know how to test coil resistance, but I'm still not 100% sure on where the biggest risk factors are when dealing with current passing through coils of a particular ohm rating. Assume for a second I'm using an unregulated mod. If I throw too much current at a coil with very high resistance (say .05 ohm) will the coil just blow like a fuse? Or is this where you risk a battery exploding? It would be cool to start at the very basics of ohms law, and then maybe see some example builds for a particular battery (20700 if you wouldnt mind :D) while discussing where the min/mid/max coil ratings stand in terms of resistance, then the risk of approaching or exceeding the calculated min/max. I'm also not 100% sure where using a regulated mod fits into the electrical equation other than providing some safety and I assume small loss of power to the coils. Haha... now I'm 1:38 in. I guess doing something specific to a 20700 battery would be irrelevant. But at least now I know this battery has a volume of π10²70 or around 21,980 mm³
@batterymooch6 жыл бұрын
Check out Ep2 and Ep3 of my Minding Your mAhs series. You can never depend on a coil acting as a fuse to protect you. You MUST be completely familiar with Ohm’s Law and how to determine the battery current rating you need before you use an unregulated device.

Hi Mooch! Awesome to see that ur making these informative videos regularly, thank you! I have a question regarding the voltage drop that i have been getting very different answers to: So lets say i have a fully charged battery at 4.2 volts, and there is a 0.5 volt drop on the voltage caused by the mech im using. Does that mean that i can build and use ohm law by the voltage after the drop (4.2-0.5=3.8V in this case) or do i have to still build by the voltage of the battery before the drop? And im asking obviously cause the amp draw would be different at 4.2 and 3.8 volts. Much appreciated :)

@Jeremy903586 жыл бұрын
The wrap should always be in perfect condition. Inspect your battery wraps everytime you handle them and rewrap as soon as you see any damage, even if it's the smallest hole/nick/tear. Replacing your wraps is cheap and easy, replacing your face isn't.

Follow the link to my blog at ECF in the Description section of this video. You will find the link to my Recommended Batteries tables. Some great choices there. For a regulated mod you want a battery with a high enough current rating. Then pick the highest Wh battery with a high enough current rating. Check out Ep3 of my Minding Your mAhs series. It just deals with the current rating though. The Recommended Batteries table will have good suggestions once you know the current rating you need.

Question: How many volts are recommended to use in VV mode to extend the battery life? I know it depends on what battery you use but what specs can I look out to judge how many Voltages to use on 18650's / 20700's.
@07zx14White6 жыл бұрын
Angelo Kalfas All the vape batteries we generally use have a nominal voltage 3.6-3.7 volts, but nominal is not fully charged. The lithium-ion batteries are charged to 4.2 volts when fully charged so that is the voltage of one lithium-ion battery/cell. Have you watched his other videos or read his posts or charts on ECF (electronic cigarette forum)? He has years of posts, charts, graphs, and explanations. I recommend you watch all of the videos on this channel. If you do that then you will be ahead of the curve and hopefully much safer with your vaping.
